بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Whatever program we initiate in our life, will be as per the Pre-Directed Guidelines of Allah, the Most Benevolent and the Most Merciful. (6:162)
إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦٓ أَنۡ أَنذِرۡ قَوۡمَكَ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن يَأۡتِيَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ١
71:1. It is true that Reformist Nooh Nabi was the Messenger of Rabbu who conveyed His guidance to his people. But his community was involved in evil deeds. He warned them of the impending doom.
قَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ إِنِّي لَكُمۡ نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٌ٢
71:2. He said to his community, “I have come to caution you and make clear the possible consequences of your wrongdoing.”
أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ٣
71:3. So, he advised them to act only in obedience to His guidance. He advised them to act with fear of the possible adverse effects of acting against His guidance.
يَغۡفِرۡ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمۡ وَيُؤَخِّرۡكُمۡ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمًّىۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُۚ لَوۡ كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ٤
71:4. “If you act according to Rabbu's guidance, you will have a secure and peaceful life. You have been given time to face the consequences of your evil deeds. No one can delay the aftermath of that opportunity. If you know their pain, you will not act like this.”
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوۡتُ قَوۡمِي لَيۡلٗا وَنَهَارٗا٥
71:5. Thus, he has been instructing his community for many years. But they never accepted his advice. So, he said, “O My Rabbu! I tried to bring my community to the right path day and night.”
فَلَمۡ يَزِدۡهُمۡ دُعَآءِيٓ إِلَّا فِرَارٗا٦
71:6. “But they totally reject my call. It is more than just running away from Your guidance.”
وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوۡتُهُمۡ لِتَغۡفِرَ لَهُمۡ جَعَلُوٓاْ أَصَٰبِعَهُمۡ فِيٓ ءَاذَانِهِمۡ وَٱسۡتَغۡشَوۡاْ ثِيَابَهُمۡ وَأَصَرُّواْ وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ ٱسۡتِكۡبَارٗا٧
71:7. I invited them to tell them about the safe life they would get by acting under Your guidance. But they never listened to my advice. They cover their faces to escape from me if they go that way. It is their stubbornness, arrogance, and pride that prevent them.
ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوۡتُهُمۡ جِهَارٗا٨
71:8. Nevertheless, I gathered them all together and publicly called towards Your guidance.
ثُمَّ إِنِّيٓ أَعۡلَنتُ لَهُمۡ وَأَسۡرَرۡتُ لَهُمۡ إِسۡرَارٗا٩
71:9. I also spoke openly to them. I personally called them and tried to convince them.
فَقُلۡتُ ٱسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمۡ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارٗا١٠
71:10. I told them, “Act in the way of your Rabbu, and hasten towards a secure life. Surely His guidance is a guarantee of your safe life.”
يُرۡسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيۡكُم مِّدۡرَارٗا١١
71:11. I told, “If you do so, you will have all the facilities according to universal laws.”
وَيُمۡدِدۡكُم بِأَمۡوَٰلٖ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ جَنَّٰتٖ وَيَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ أَنۡهَٰرٗا١٢
71:12. “Your living standard will improve. Your children will grow up to be the best. The community you live in will be as lush as gardens. This will increase your economic facilities.”
مَّا لَكُمۡ لَا تَرۡجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارٗا١٣
71:13. “What happened to you? When Allah's guidance calls for your better life, why do you refuse to follow it?”
وَقَدۡ خَلَقَكُمۡ أَطۡوَارًا١٤
71:14. “Think about your own creation. Don't you think that your creation has gone through many stages?”
أَلَمۡ تَرَوۡاْ كَيۡفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبۡعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٖ طِبَاقٗا١٥
71:15. “Do you not see how the skies are created in layers, according to Allah's great plan?”
وَجَعَلَ ٱلۡقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورٗا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمۡسَ سِرَاجٗا١٦
71:16. "Do you not yet observe the innumerable creations in the sky, the shining moon, and the blazing sun?"
All of these are the crutches of your life. You cannot live without them. Similarly, your society will prosper only if all the people work together. This is what His guidance emphasizes. But you are also thinking that you can live individually and live better. This is not correct. Think about your own creation. You will know that the properties of all the minerals on earth are composed in your body. How did this become possible?
وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ نَبَاتٗا١٧
71:17. As per the plan of Allah, you sprouted from the earth like vines, passed through many degrees, and became human in the best possible way. (See 15:26, 32:7-8)
This is evidenced by the fact that the minerals and nutrients of all creation on earth are present in the human body.
ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمۡ فِيهَا وَيُخۡرِجُكُمۡ إِخۡرَاجٗا١٨
71:18. Following that, the way was made for you all to live together. After that, your life is one that will continue even after death.
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بِسَاطٗا١٩
71:19. And all the means of subsistence on this earth have been made for you all to live better.
لِّتَسۡلُكُواْ مِنۡهَا سُبُلٗا فِجَاجٗا٢٠
71:20. Spacious paths are also made for you to travel.
Thus, Reformist Nooh Nabi explained to his people the plans of Rabbu and the laws that man should follow.
قَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمۡ عَصَوۡنِي وَٱتَّبَعُواْ مَن لَّمۡ يَزِدۡهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارٗا٢١
71:21. But they did not come forward to obey his advice. So he said, “O, My Rabbu! My community is acting against Your advice. The people are being harmed by their leader. They are still following them.” He submitted his grievances to Rabbu.
وَمَكَرُواْ مَكۡرٗا كُبَّارٗا٢٢
71:22. “And they plot against me in many ways”
وَقَالُواْ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدّٗا وَلَا سُوَاعٗا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسۡرٗا٢٣
71:23. “And they are threatening the people not to forsake gods they worship. They made clay toys and named them. Some of them are worshiped under the names of ‘Wadh-dhan’, ‘Suwa’an’, ‘Yaghoosu’, ‘Yau’qha’, ‘Nasran’. They say don’t miss any of these. Otherwise they say it will be a great deity crime.”
وَقَدۡ أَضَلُّواْ كَثِيرٗاۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلٗا٢٤
71:24. “Thus they have misled all the people. Therefore, the activities of such people do nothing but misguidance.”
مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمۡ أُغۡرِقُواْ فَأُدۡخِلُواْ نَارٗا فَلَمۡ يَجِدُواْ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارٗا٢٥
71:25. “So they are immersed in wrongdoing. Their activities are enough to inflict pain on them. There is no other way to get rid of their misery except by the guidance of Allah. But they are not ready to accept it.”
وَقَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرۡ عَلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا٢٦
71:26. And he said, “O, My Rabbu! Do not let such arrogant wrongdoers live on this earth.” They persecuted him to that extent.
إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرۡهُمۡ يُضِلُّواْ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓاْ إِلَّا فَاجِرٗا كَفَّارٗا٢٧
71:27. If You allow them to continue, they will mislead some of us who follow You. Thus their descendants will become sinners and atheists.
رَّبِّ ٱغۡفِرۡ لِي وَلِوَٰلِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيۡتِيَ مُؤۡمِنٗا وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارَۢا٢٨
71:28. “O, My Rabbu! Protect me, my parents, those who have accepted Your guidance, men and women activists who work as per Your guidance. The refuters’ unjust activities are on increase leading to the destruction.”
Dear Intellectuals! Notice how tirelessly a reformist tries to guide people. And notice how much the people who lived there persecuted him. This is the situation even today. We must make every effort to guide the people. Failure to do so will also ruin those who accept Rabbu's guidance.
