Preface

Dear Intellectuals!

Assalamu Alaikum.

There are so many languages in this world. Each of them will have its unique features. There will be many things being narrated in the form of parables and with literary style. So, if we want to translate a text in one language into another, we must have studied that language well. Must also be well versed in the grammar and literature of that language. Only then can one translate the text correctly.

Further, in every language, there are sentences that convey direct meaning and sentences that are narrated with a literary twist in the form of a parable. For example, if we say, “One has sound health”. It can be directly translated into other language as “His health is full of sounds”. Similarly, if we say, “He is hard nut to crack” we can only understand that he is stubborn and cannot be translated directly into other languages. If we translate word to word, the meaning will not carry any sense.

Similarly, in the Holy Qur’an, there are verses that can be taken literally, as well as sentences that are narrated in parable form with a literary twist. (See 3:7) The question may arise as to how we can understand these things. But the answer is easy to find. That is, each book will have its own central theme. The book will be written around it. In the same way, the central concept of the Holy Qur’an, is universal rules to be followed by Man in the world. It speaks in terms of the advice that all should follow, the benefits of following them, or the misery of ignoring them. Further, it speaks in terms of how the social system of a country and the people of the world should be for all to get a secure happy life with unity. With this central idea, we can easily understand the text of the Holy Qur’an. (See chapter 3:7 for an explanation.)

And the Qur’an says that all world events are carried out by Allah. But since Allah has given complete FREE WILL to man, there is no intervention of Allah in human activities. But the actions of Allah are based on the "consequences according to Man’s activities". (See 11:56) For example, it is said that Allah has destroyed many societies (see 6:6). It is not right to mean literally like this. That is, when society continues to engage in evil deeds, it is doomed according to the System, "Ultimate results of human deeds" prescribed by Allah. Since Allah has established such rules in this world, He says that He destroyed. We have given explanations to qur’anic verses based on this.

And when looking at the translation of the Holy Qur’an, it comes in many places as "If Allah wills" and "If Allah wishes". We need to keep in mind that these are not the things that Allah seeks every day. "The pursuit of Allah" means the "Stable Laws" that He has created according to His will. So, it means that if man's desire and labor are in consonance to the immutable Laws of Allah, man can attain what he seeks. For example, A text at 17:30 says that Rabbu, the Nourisher of the world provides generous livelihoods to whomever He wills; He gives very little to whomever He wills. If this is taken literally, it would mean that Allah acts with discrimination. But when Allah is the ‘Rabbul-Alamin’ who cares for all the people of the world, He will not act with discrimination. Therefore, according to the rule in 53:39, those who work skillfully get more wealth and those who work unskilled get less wealth. So, developing skills is a matter left to human responsibility. The exposition of Qur’an is given with this in mind.

Allah declares that Guidance has been completed in the Holy Qur’an. (See 5:3) So, the detailed legislation, policies, principles advices are given in it as guidance. But not everything is described in sequence but is described in different places in a way adhering to the subject dealt with. Its purpose is to make every subject clear to the readers. So, when we talk about a subject, we see that its details are referred in the other text that is attached to it. For example, people are in a hurry about the destructions. The text 29:53 says that if We had not allotted due timings for their deed, the retribution would have come to them immediately. The explanation for this is given in verse 16:61. That is, it is said that if Allah's plan is to punish for the evil deeds of the man, then and there, no one will survive in this world and so His plan is to give them time to repent and set right his deeds. Thus, the explanation of the text 29:53 is found in the text 16:61. Thus the subject becomes clear.

Allah has taken care of safeguarding (15:9) and interpreting the Qur’an (see 75:17-19) by Himself. As I said above, a verse of the Holy Qur’an is beautifully illustrated by the verses that come before or after it. This is the great miracle of the Qur’an. This is also one of the best ways to easily understand the Qur’an. While clarifying the text of the Qur’an, I have included the explanations of the other verse or verses that accompany it. I have also given the numbers of that text side by side.

I just want to say one thing. I am not saying that any of the present translations of the Holy Qur’an are totally wrong. They have given a direct translation of the Arabic words. So, it is not easy for the laity to understand what is being said in the verses of the Holy Qur’an. Therefore, clarification of the Holy Qur’an becomes mandatory. It is with this in mind that I have given clarifications. For this, I came to know many facts by reading the commentaries written by many Arabic linguists who lived in the 19th and 20th centuries. The first of them to come is the poet, Sir. Allama Iqbalrah. There are many of their disciples. Also Allama Aslam Jayarajpurih, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Jeelani Bargh, Althaf Hussain Hali.

I have given this clarification by focusing on the commentary written by Enayathulla Khan Al Mashriqui, Muhammadali Lahoree, Sheikh Dawood Shaha, Allama Ghulam Ahmad Parvezrah. So, this is not a translation of the Holy Qur’an based on religion which preaches worshipping methods. Nor is it a thafseer based on Riwayathi circumstantial stories. This is only the connotation of Qur’anic verses based on guidance. However, I am solely responsible for the connotation of Qur’an. Even though utmost attention has been paid to this exposition, as a human being, there may be some omissions in my clarification. Dear ones have the right to point it out. And I do not claim that this is the final explanation. Experts who give better explanations than this will come as per the canon of Allah. But it should be noted only that such explanations should be within the framework of the Qur'anic principles as a whole. (See 27:84)

And one more thing I want to say importantly. When those who think that these clarifications are correct, tell others, “The text of the Qur’an says so” and not say that a Particular Person writes so. If you say so you will create a new division or group. It is the greatest sin.

Editor's note: (The reasons for such exposition of Quran)

I was born on April 15, 1953, in Ambur, North Arcot District. My father's name is Neri. Abdul Wajid and my mother: A. Mujeebunnisa. My father worked as a revenue officer in the taluka office in Gudiyatham. So, my schooling also took place at Thiruvalluvar High School there. I completed my S.S.L.C in 1969. From there. the family moved to Ambur as my father got retirement from service. Following that, I joined Vaniyambadi Islamic College and completed my B.Com degree in 1973. After that, I worked in a private company and made my family income improve.

My family members were all orthodox in religious matters and they all followed the Hanafi Laws. But doubts about religious matters rolled down in my mind, but I could not ask any questions. Such was the position. Later on, I got married in 1979. Following that, family problems began to erupt. All the problems in the family seemed to be very new to me as I had lived very happily before marriage.

I consulted with the local imams and maulavis of the mosque to find if there was any way to shore up these problems. The only answer I got from them was to be patient and Allah favors only those who are patients. Instead of suggesting a remedy, they just advised me to keep reciting some of the chapters from the Qur’an. Since I had learned the Qur’an in Arabic from in early age, I began to read it and its meanings. But I could not read more than two pages. To that extent, it was an incomprehensible mystery. Further, I could not find any solace to my problems.

Then I went up and down the steps of many dargahs with the nostalgia of going to Avliya Allah (construed to be Allah’s dear friends) to find a solution for my problems first. But what remained was nothing but the disappointments. The Mujawars of Dargahs recommended and sent me to other dargahs. The people there, in this way, have drained a few thousand bucks. Thus, I got more and more disappointment than any solution.

I then sought the help of astrologers, thinking that my problems would be solved. Many of them said that my star had fallen into the abyss according to my horoscope and it would cost a few thousand to fix it. Believing that I had my own star, I lost a few thousand. But they were not able to lift my star out of the abyss and put it in the right place.

No. I learned that caste, religion, worship of God, worship of Dargah, divination of horoscopes are all deceptive works and it has nothing to do with the man’s happy life. Thus, my life was moving for some time amidst many family problems. Then one day, while traveling by train, I met a scholar by name D J Mazhar Hassan from my hometown. He was a Unani Hakeem. When he looked at my withered face and inquired about me. From there it was a turning point in my life.

The first question I asked him was whether Allah is present in the temples. He quoted the Qur’an as saying, “There is no place without Allah.” If so, I asked if I could go to the temple. For that, there is nothing wrong with going to the temple. But it was not proper to attend the rituals there because they were all against the principles of Allah. I saw that there were facts in the answers he gave.

Following that, I went to him and bought some books and read them. It was only after reading them that I noticed that the superstition, "Jabar" of the Iranians, was playing a vital role in the Qur’an’s translations. That doctrine of “Jabar” says that everything is in the hands of Allah. There is nothing that man can do. Nothing can be achieved by man without His gestures. The ideology is that we can get anything only if Allah wills. Seen in this light, the FREE WILL given to the man goes meaningless. It also came to light that many words in Qur’an such as Shaithan, Iblees, Jin, Thasbeeh, Sajdah, Rukoo, Malaika, Rabbu, etc have not all been translated in the present texts. You will find the perfect exposition of these words in this Qur’an.

I also learned that meaning of the Qur’an has been given under the impression that Allah as a king. That is why the Holy Qur’an has become a Scripture that cannot be followed in this world. This has created a situation among Muslims where it is enough to follow the narrated “Rivayath” books written by the Iranians using the name of Muhammed Nabi. Thus, the Muslims have been separated from the Qur’an. Following that, it became enough for Muslims to live according to their conscience. Conscience has no fixed nature. It will change as it suits the place or the situation. Everyone will adopt for safety reasons. Everyone's protective action becomes selfish and spoils the other's peaceful life.

These are the factors that led me to rethink the guidance found in Qur’an to solve many problems in families and society. That was the situation; I learned through the Qur’an that my family would have been trapped by wrong interpretations of the Qur’an and so I got revised ideologies from the aforesaid learned scholars to make my life free from all chaos. I thought that millions of families in our country would be suffering from such problems and I wanted to present to the people the true interpretation of the Holy Qur’an that I had learned. Its results are the clarification of the Holy Qur’an which is before your desk. My humble request to you is to study the exposition, think deeply, and make your life better by following the Qur’an. With the hope that you, as readers of the Qur’an will fulfill my request.
