بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Whatever program we initiate in our life, will be as per the Pre-Directed Guidelines of Allah, the Most Benevolent and the Most Merciful. (6:162)
وَٱلنَّجۡمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ١
53:1. The star that appears and disappears at dawn is the source of truth.
That is, the stars never change their path. So you travel in the desert and sea by knowing the right direction at night without worries. (See 16:16) They do not appear and disappear by themselves. Behind them lies the mighty power of Allah. The transition laws formed on that basis are in effect. That is why they never go astray.
مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمۡ وَمَا غَوَىٰ٢
53:2. O, people! In the same way, your companion as a reformist will never go astray. He will not lead you in the wrong directions. Because
وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰٓ٣
53:3. The guidelines he gives are not self-created ones.
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحۡيٞ يُوحَىٰ٤
53:4. Rather, it is based on the guidance of the revelation from Allah.
عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلۡقُوَىٰ٥
53:5. All the guidance he gives is from Allah, the Supreme Power, the Almighty. Moreover, His guidance pervades all aspects of human life.
ذُو مِرَّةٖ فَٱسۡتَوَىٰ٦
53:6. The Guidance, therefore, encompasses the righteous living standards of the individual and mankind as a whole.
وَهُوَ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ٧
53:7. He who is guided by such greatness goes to the pinnacle of wisdom.
When a person stands on the ground and looks around, he can only see what is around him. If he stands in a high place, he can see wide spaces. The higher he stands, the wider will be his vision. In the same way, human knowledge also is subject to its own limitations. Mostly, it will teach you the way to protect yourself. But the wisdom of guidance from Allah, the Creator and Sustainer of all universes, encompasses universal tidings. He who knows them will know world affairs easily and will be at the pinnacle of wisdom on how to fix them. (See 81:23 & 84: 7-8)
After reaching such a climax, the question arises as to what is the ultimate goal of human life and what he has got to do with Allah’s grand creation programs that work throughout the universe. So he
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ٨
53:8. Immerses in the wisdom of the close relationship that is inter-twined between these two.
One who acquires such wisdom becomes fully capable of how the human world should function. i.e.
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوۡسَيۡنِ أَوۡ أَدۡنَىٰ٩
53:9. The decisions he makes for the betterment of society are like the two curves of a bow. Their goals are never wrong.
That is, Rabbu's plans on the one side - and man's actions on the other according to them. If these two are towards the same goal, then human efforts will get the right benefits. Scientific research is one of the sources for this.
فَأَوۡحَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبۡدِهِۦ مَآ أَوۡحَىٰ١٠
53:10. When he reaches the pinnacle of such wisdom, he preaches those wise teachings to the people of the world without keeping them to himself.
When communities act according to the plans of Allah, he sees with his insight about an equitable society similar to paradise will follow.
مَا كَذَبَ ٱلۡفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓ١١
53:11. He informs only what he has in his vision and does not lie.
That is because he is at the pinnacle of wisdom, he clearly understands what is true. He advises the people to work for social harmony accordingly. But people could not understand the truth about his motives. Therefore
أَفَتُمَٰرُونَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ١٢
53:12. He argues about his grand vision. Is it correct?
Learn one more thing. What he visions is not like the one who dreams while asleep. The ideal vision he has is in terms of revelation. It can be puzzling to people who don’t understand. But to those who understand the truth, it seems possible.
وَلَقَدۡ رَءَاهُ نَزۡلَةً أُخۡرَىٰ١٣
53:13. So the Reformist reaffirms that his ideal vision will come true.
Only when that goal is achieved a solution can be found to solve the problems that have arisen in the human world and the ultimate goal of human life be achieved. One wanders in search of shade, unable to withstand the harshness of the sun
عِندَ سِدۡرَةِ ٱلۡمُنتَهَىٰ١٤
53:14. How nice it would be to have a place to breathe the cool air in an orchard full of plant vines in the center of the dessert!
In the same way, if the human problems are solved, he would find a peaceful life in search of which he is wandering.
عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰٓ١٥
53:15. Only then will he have the opportunity to reach the entrance of paradise. That is what “Jannathul Mawa” means. That means the place where you get whatever you want.
إِذۡ يَغۡشَى ٱلسِّدۡرَةَ مَا يَغۡشَىٰ١٦
53:16. So the vision of the ideal journey of the Reformist will revolve around the plans of the revelation.
مَا زَاغَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ١٧
53:17. So he never deviates from it. There is no changing direction.
لَقَدۡ رَأَىٰ مِنۡ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّهِ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰٓ١٨
53:18. Thus he discovers the truth about the great action plans of Allah.
أَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ ٱللَّٰتَ وَٱلۡعُزَّىٰ١٩
53:19. On the contrary, have you ever noticed the people worshiping idols named ‘Lath’ and ‘Uzza’ without any such lofty ideals?
وَمَنَوٰةَ ٱلثَّالِثَةَ ٱلۡأُخۡرَىٰٓ٢٠
53:20. And did you see the third great deity, Manath?
أَلَكُمُ ٱلذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ ٱلۡأُنثَىٰ٢١
53:21. You want to have male offspring. But prefer women descendants to Allah?
تِلۡكَ إِذٗا قِسۡمَةٞ ضِيزَىٰٓ٢٢
53:22. Is it not a very unfair distribution system?
إِنۡ هِيَ إِلَّآ أَسۡمَآءٞ سَمَّيۡتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمۡ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلۡطَٰنٍۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهۡوَى ٱلۡأَنفُسُۖ وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ ٱلۡهُدَىٰٓ٢٣
53:23. These are all the names you have given yourself. Names that you and your ancestors have given! There is no evidence for this from Allah. They want to live according to their desires with vain thoughts. The fact is that the straight path from Allah has surely come to them.
They dismissed them all and deceive the laity by telling such stories.
أَمۡ لِلۡإِنسَٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ٢٤
53:24. Everyone who comes to worship brings his or her wishes. Every one of them hopes their deities will fulfill their wishes. How is that possible?
For example, in a court of law, if the plaintiff and the defendant argued that the judgment should be in their favor, how can it fulfill their obligations? These are the conflicts that occur when people act according to their mental desire. There will be no room for such conflicts if the society is formed according to His guidance.
فَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةُ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰ٢٥
53:25. Because the guidance of Allah emphasizes to act based on present and the future lasting pleasures.
But they make the Universal forces of nature as deities and worship them in varieties of images. They give images to water, fire, air, sky, and the power of the earth as five giants gods and worship them.
۞وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٖ فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ لَا تُغۡنِي شَفَٰعَتُهُمۡ شَيًۡٔا إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ أَن يَأۡذَنَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرۡضَىٰٓ٢٦
53:26. Will their quality of life improve as they worship the celestial forces of nature? Instead, if they had known about the energies hidden in each of them and know how to use them, they would have gotten many benefits from them. Because they are the ones that are running with constant rules.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ لَيُسَمُّونَ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ تَسۡمِيَةَ ٱلۡأُنثَىٰ٢٧
53:27. Therefore, those who do not accept the law of “the Ultimate result of human deeds” prescribed by Allah, will worship the forces of nature, by giving women names.
وَمَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍۖ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّۖ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغۡنِي مِنَ ٱلۡحَقِّ شَيۡٔٗا٢٨
53:28. And thus, they worship without any clear knowledge of them. So, they are all based on mere conjecture. They follow them (see 6: 148). So, they may seem real to those who live in superstition. But when examined intellectually, such superstitions will disappear.
فَأَعۡرِضۡ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكۡرِنَا وَلَمۡ يُرِدۡ إِلَّا ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا٢٩
53:29. And those who, after giving such clear explanations, disregard the advice of Allah and live for the sake of temporary pleasure, then leave them in their tracks. Act according to the plans that Allah has shown to you.
ذَٰلِكَ مَبۡلَغُهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱهۡتَدَىٰ٣٠
53:30. The reason is that their knowledge operates only within such a narrow circle. That is to say, their knowledge says that it is right to worship idols made by their own hands as gods. So Allah knows those who are on the right path and those who go astray.
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ لِيَجۡزِيَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسَٰٓـُٔواْ بِمَا عَمِلُواْ وَيَجۡزِيَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَحۡسَنُواْ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَى٣١
53:31. And all the creations in the universe and on earth are working to fulfill the plans fixed by Allah in such a way as to yield consequences that are conducive to human misconduct. They bring benefits to those who do good deeds for the betterment of society. These are the arrangements made according to the plans of Allah. (See also 11:7&45: 22)
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجۡتَنِبُونَ كَبَٰٓئِرَ ٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡفَوَٰحِشَ إِلَّا ٱللَّمَمَۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَٰسِعُ ٱلۡمَغۡفِرَةِۚ
53:32. Minor errors are common in human life. They can be rectified by man. But if he commits large-scale evil deeds (see 4:30-31) that defile his future, how can he correct them? So he must avoid such evil deeds. (See 5:90). Only then will he have a safe life from his Allah.
هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِكُمۡ إِذۡ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَإِذۡ أَنتُمۡ أَجِنَّةٞ فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمۡۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوٓاْ أَنفُسَكُمۡۖ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰٓ٣٢
What are all the weaknesses of man? What kind of disruptions will occur in his life from the time he was a baby in his mother's womb until he grows up? Which of them can he fix? Allah knows all such things. So there is no point in man thinking of himself as super intelligent. The only testing stone to find out how high are his qualities is the Qur’an. By following the guidelines in it, one can know how high his virtues are.
أَفَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي تَوَلَّىٰ٣٣
53:33. Evidence. Take the case of the one who has gone astray.
وَأَعۡطَىٰ قَلِيلٗا وَأَكۡدَىٰٓ٣٤
53:34. He gives very little for the betterment of society. He prevents that too.
أَعِندَهُۥ عِلۡمُ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰٓ٣٥
53:35. Did he have the hidden wisdom to know that what he was doing was right?
أَمۡ لَمۡ يُنَبَّأۡ بِمَا فِي صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ٣٦
53:36. The Qur’anic advice given to Reformist Moosa before this is also given in this Quran! Won't he open it too?
وَإِبۡرَٰهِيمَ ٱلَّذِي وَفَّىٰٓ٣٧
53:37. Did he read and know the biography of Reformist Ibrahim who followed His guidance throughout his life?
أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٞ وِزۡرَ أُخۡرَىٰ٣٨
53:38. The burdens of one's sins cannot be borne by one another. Does he have any fear about it?
وَأَن لَّيۡسَ لِلۡإِنسَٰنِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ٣٩
53:39. Finally, it is a Pre-Directed Law that man would get only what he works for? What will he get, if he doesn’t work?
وَأَنَّ سَعۡيَهُۥ سَوۡفَ يُرَىٰ٤٠
53:40. But none of the benefits of human efforts will go in vain. Their benefits will come to the fore soon.
ثُمَّ يُجۡزَىٰهُ ٱلۡجَزَآءَ ٱلۡأَوۡفَىٰ٤١
53:41. There is no reduction in the benefits for his efforts. Those benefits will be fully available.
وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡمُنتَهَىٰ٤٢
53:42. The ultimate goal of human life is to create a harmonious social system according to Rabbu's guidance and to live together collectively. As far as the individual is concerned, everyone should cultivate in himself the special qualities of Allah as much as possible. (See 2: 138) Problems in human life must be solved according to His guidance. (See 79:44)
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَضۡحَكَ وَأَبۡكَىٰ٤٣
53:43. A society that lives according to the guidance of Allah will be happy. Instead, the community living on its own will be weeping.
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحۡيَا٤٤
53:44. It is on the basis of this rule established by Allah that one can have an energetic enlightened life or a life without any capability, according to His deeds.
These are all things that have been said in the previous scriptures too. Yet leaving them all behind, they want to live in a state of mindlessness. That is why they create imaginary deities and worship them, instead of following Allah’s guidance.
وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوۡجَيۡنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰ٤٥
53:45. Does he not notice that every creation has been created in pairs as male and female? Does he not realize the power of Allah?
مِن نُّطۡفَةٍ إِذَا تُمۡنَىٰ٤٦
53:46. Should he not also notice that his reproduction is rooted in a drop of semen injected into a woman's womb?
وَأَنَّ عَلَيۡهِ ٱلنَّشۡأَةَ ٱلۡأُخۡرَىٰ٤٧
53:47. According to Rabbu's plan, only mankind is endowed with unique powers.
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَغۡنَىٰ وَأَقۡنَىٰ٤٨
53:48. And is he not provided with all the necessities of life in order to become self-sufficient?
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلشِّعۡرَىٰ٤٩
53:49. The same is given to other creatures as far as subsistence facilities are concerned. But man is also endowed with the ability to think and act independently.
Instead of living a better life using intellect according to His guidance, he wants to live according to his desires. Thus, his mindset becomes addicted to desires and the rationality of finding out whether what he is doing is right or wrong is paralyzed. Many of the societies that lived like this have perished.
وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهۡلَكَ عَادًا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ٥٠
53:50. The ‘Aadhu’ community also includes such extinct societies.
وَثَمُودَاْ فَمَآ أَبۡقَىٰ٥١
53:51. Did any of the mighty people like Samoodhu community escape such destruction?
وَقَوۡمَ نُوحٖ مِّن قَبۡلُۖ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ هُمۡ أَظۡلَمَ وَأَطۡغَىٰ٥٢
53:52. Did the community of Nooh who lived before this surpass? All of them have been committing unjust acts against the oppressed people.
وَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَةَ أَهۡوَىٰ٥
53:53. Communities that are indulged in such unjust acts will never escape destruction!
فَغَشَّىٰهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ٥٤
53:54. The atrocities they committed surrounded them.
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ٥٥
53:55. O, Man! Which of your Allah's Supremacy are you going to deny? Do you still have doubts?
هَٰذَا نَذِيرٞ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰٓ٥٦
53:56. This is a piece of precautionary information just as the warning message was given to the extinct community before!
أَزِفَتِ ٱلۡأٓزِفَةُ٥٧
53:57. O, Man! The devastation caused by your wrongdoing is approaching.
لَيۡسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ٥٨
53:58. Those destructions will come in full force after the appointed time of Allah.
أَفَمِنۡ هَٰذَا ٱلۡحَدِيثِ تَعۡجَبُونَ٥٩
53:59. O Mankind! Didn’t these warning messages surprise you?
وَتَضۡحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبۡكُونَ٦٠
53:60. Are you going to accept these precautionary messages, take appropriate security measures, and live happily forever? Or are you going to ignore them and cry?
وَأَنتُمۡ سَٰمِدُونَ٦١
53:61. Observing you is like being indifferent!
فَٱسۡجُدُواْۤ لِلَّهِۤ وَٱعۡبُدُواْ۩٦٢
53:62. O, Man! Awake. Stand up straight. Obey only by the command of Allah.
Follow His advice and take corrective action. Everything will be fine. Save your community from disaster.
Chapter No: 54 – Soorah: Qamar (Symbol of Moon)
