بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Whatever program we initiate in our life, will be as per the Pre-Directed Guidelines of Allah, the Most Benevolent and the Most Merciful. (6:162)
قَدۡ سَمِعَ ٱللَّهُ قَوۡلَ ٱلَّتِي تُجَٰدِلُكَ فِي زَوۡجِهَا وَتَشۡتَكِيٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَٱللَّهُ يَسۡمَعُ تَحَاوُرَكُمَآۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِيعُۢ بَصِيرٌ١
58:1. The Petition filed by the woman against her husband in the court acting under the rule of Allah was heard and admitted. The court of Allah has heard the arguments made with you in that regard and your counter reply. It also heard the reasonable demands of the women and will issue judgment accordingly. The case is:
ٱلَّذِينَ يُظَٰهِرُونَ مِنكُم مِّن نِّسَآئِهِم مَّا هُنَّ أُمَّهَٰتِهِمۡۖ إِنۡ أُمَّهَٰتُهُمۡ إِلَّا ٱلَّٰٓـِٔي وَلَدۡنَهُمۡۚ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَيَقُولُونَ مُنكَرٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡقَوۡلِ وَزُورٗاۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَعَفُوٌّ غَفُورٞ٢
58:2. Some of you mention their wife that she looks like his mother. By saying so, they will not become their mother. The judgment given says that only those who give birth to them are their mothers. (See 33: 4) To mention one’s wife as his mother is an act of disgusting. There is no truth in their claim. Considering the safety of people on all sides, the court of Allah will not exaggerate the small mistakes made in ignorance.
They call their wives mothers and divorce them. Doing so will no longer be allowed. Whoever says so as sportive is punishable.
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُظَٰهِرُونَ مِن نِّسَآئِهِمۡ ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا قَالُواْ فَتَحۡرِيرُ رَقَبَةٖ مِّن قَبۡلِ أَن يَتَمَآسَّاۚ ذَٰلِكُمۡ تُوعَظُونَ بِهِۦۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِيرٞ٣
58:3. So, if anyone mentions his wife as a mother or uses other inappropriate words, he will be punished. If someone has committed this sin and seeks to redeem his wife, he must free a slave before he can touch her. This is the penalty given to him to act more responsibly. Act with the mind that Allah is well aware of your every action.
Dear Intellectuals! From this, we learn that at the time of the revelation of the Qur'an, the practice of buying and keeping poor common people as slaves was existing. So, the release of a slave is a great punishment for them, and it is a step taken to eradicate slavery.
فَمَن لَّمۡ يَجِدۡ فَصِيَامُ شَهۡرَيۡنِ مُتَتَابِعَيۡنِ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن يَتَمَآسَّاۖ فَمَن لَّمۡ يَسۡتَطِعۡ فَإِطۡعَامُ سِتِّينَ مِسۡكِينٗاۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِتُؤۡمِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦۚ وَتِلۡكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّهِۗ وَلِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ٤
58:4. Therefore, those who do not have the facility to free a slave like this or live in a free country where there is no slavery should observe fasting for two consecutive months before touching his wife. Whoever does not have the power to do this, must feed sixty poor people. Such commands are issued so that he may abide by the guidance of Allah and the constitutional by-laws based on it. These are the limits set by Allah. No one should trespass them. Violators will face severe punishment.
Therefore, the court will take them under judicial custody, monitor their fasting, and use this opportunity to teach Qur’anic principles and regulate them. Or arrange to feed sixty poor people.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحَآدُّونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ كُبِتُواْ كَمَا كُبِتَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ وَقَدۡ أَنزَلۡنَآ ءَايَٰتِۢ بَيِّنَٰتٖۚ وَلِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٞ مُّهِينٞ٥
58:5. During the past regimes which functioned as per the guidance, those who acted against it were despised. Keep this in mind that their situation will now get worse as well. A clear command has come from Rabbu on this matter. Those who act against it will suffer severe pain.
If there is no such rule or court of Rabbu, do not think that you will escape. The time will come when the people will be assembled according to Rabbu's plan and will be rewarded for their deeds.
يَوۡمَ يَبۡعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ جَمِيعٗا فَيُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوٓاْۚ أَحۡصَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ وَنَسُوهُۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ شَهِيدٌ٦
58:6. At such a time they will all be resurrected and informed of what they have done. They may have forgotten. But their deeds are preserved under the “law of consequences of human action” prescribed by Allah. (See 17: 13-14) Thus know that all deeds of each one of you are under His supervision.
أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعۡلَمُ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ مَا يَكُونُ مِن نَّجۡوَىٰ ثَلَٰثَةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ رَابِعُهُمۡ وَلَا خَمۡسَةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ سَادِسُهُمۡ وَلَآ أَدۡنَىٰ مِن ذَٰلِكَ وَلَآ أَكۡثَرَ إِلَّا هُوَ مَعَهُمۡ أَيۡنَ مَا كَانُواْۖ
58:7. Do they not observe that everything that is in the universe and on earth operates under the control of Allah? If the three of you draft secret plans together, the fourth will be Allah? Or if the five of them conspire together, will the fifth go without Allah as the sixth? So, a few or many of them will not be without Allah, no matter wherever they are or whatever their plans are.
ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُواْ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءٍ عَلِيمٌ٧
When they act according to their plans, Allah's decree will be known to all through their consequences. Thus, remember that Allah is the One who has the power to know everything.
أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ نُهُواْ عَنِ ٱلنَّجۡوَىٰ ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا نُهُواْ عَنۡهُ وَيَتَنَٰجَوۡنَ بِٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡعُدۡوَٰنِ وَمَعۡصِيَتِ ٱلرَّسُولِۖ وَإِذَا جَآءُوكَ حَيَّوۡكَ بِمَا لَمۡ يُحَيِّكَ بِهِ ٱللَّهُ وَيَقُولُونَ فِيٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ لَوۡلَا يُعَذِّبُنَا ٱللَّهُ بِمَا نَقُولُۚ حَسۡبُهُمۡ جَهَنَّمُ يَصۡلَوۡنَهَاۖ فَبِئۡسَ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ٨
58:8. And although it is forbidden to act against the rule of Allah, they are plotting against it. Thus, they plan to commit unjust and illegal acts. Even so, O Reformist! When they meet you, they speak very politely and respectfully as good people. Even though Allah forbids such hypocrisy, they continue their pretense. And they say to themselves that if Allah were to punish them for doing so, they should have been already punished. Such hypocrisy on their part is enough to drag them to the side of a life of torment. By then, they will have to enter the place which would be the worst place ever! Don't they know this?
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا تَنَٰجَيۡتُمۡ فَلَا تَتَنَٰجَوۡاْ بِٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡعُدۡوَٰنِ وَمَعۡصِيَتِ ٱلرَّسُولِ وَتَنَٰجَوۡاْ بِٱلۡبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقۡوَىٰۖ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ تُحۡشَرُونَ٩
58:9. O followers of Our guidance! If you plan together, do not plot against the guidance of Allah or the rule of Rabbu. But plan for the good of the common people and to fulfill the schemes as per His guidance. Fear the adverse consequences of disobeying Allah.
إِنَّمَا ٱلنَّجۡوَىٰ مِنَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ لِيَحۡزُنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَلَيۡسَ بِضَآرِّهِمۡ شَيًۡٔا إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلۡيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ١٠
58:10. Remember. The plans of the hypocrites are all selfish. They plan to cause trouble to the social activists who support the sovereign system. But nothing is going to happen by their treacherous plots. Their plots will be thwarted easily as per the law of Allah. So, all of you have full faith in the guidance of Allah and act briskly.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمۡ تَفَسَّحُواْ فِي ٱلۡمَجَٰلِسِ فَٱفۡسَحُواْ يَفۡسَحِ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمۡۖ وَإِذَا قِيلَ ٱنشُزُواْ فَٱنشُزُواْ يَرۡفَعِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنكُمۡ وَٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡعِلۡمَ دَرَجَٰتٖۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِيرٞ١١
58:11. O followers of Our guidance! When the council is convened for drafting public welfare programs, some hypocrites are likely to attend. So, when you sit in the congregation, move away from each other and sit accordingly. If the meeting is declared over, you may disperse. These may seem trivial at first glance. But they will also help you to get to the top. They are also the basis for developing your knowledge. And do not forget that Allah knows what you do.
If you sit close to each other, sometimes you will murmur among yourself. Thus, you will fail to notice what is going on in the meeting and it will also affect the proceedings of the council. So, it is better to sit apart. So, when the congregation is dissolved, you have to leave the house to carry out the programs chartered out in the proceedings. Otherwise, you will be involved in unnecessary discussions. If you work together as per the instructions, your performance and knowledge will grow.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا نَٰجَيۡتُمُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَقَدِّمُواْ بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡ نَجۡوَىٰكُمۡ صَدَقَةٗۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيۡرٞ لَّكُمۡ وَأَطۡهَرُۚ فَإِن لَّمۡ تَجِدُواْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٌ١٢
58:12. O followers of Our guidance! If you want to personally meet the chairperson in charge of the governing body, (the Reformist), pay the prescribed government fee, get prior permission and then go to meet him. Thus, it will help to avoid unnecessary visits. His precious time will not be wasted. It will be good for you too. And anything you do good would be helpful to function properly. But those who do not have the facility to pay the fee can apply individually. Of course, all the schemes of Allah are carried out for the protection of all sections of the people. This is the great grace of Allah.
When a petition is filed in the court, you have to pay the corresponding Court Fees or the Poor can file a pauper case. Similarly, even if you happen to meet top officials, you have to affix the Court Fee Stamps.
ءَأَشۡفَقۡتُمۡ أَن تُقَدِّمُواْ بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡ نَجۡوَىٰكُمۡ صَدَقَٰتٖۚ فَإِذۡ لَمۡ تَفۡعَلُواْ وَتَابَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَطِيعُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥۚ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرُۢ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ١٣
58:13. Are you afraid that you will have to pay a fee to meet the person in charge of the governing body in person? Those who have come to meet without paying such a fee, shall not repeat it in the future. There is an exemption for unknowingly arriving. However, according to the guidance of Allah, consult with each other to establish governance and come up with welfare schemes. (See 42:38) Also, help to accomplish the welfare schemes of the regime. Thus follow the guidance of Allah and the By-Laws governing the State. So, act with the mind that Allah knows everything you do.
۞أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَلَّوۡاْ قَوۡمًا غَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡهِم مَّا هُم مِّنكُمۡ وَلَا مِنۡهُمۡ وَيَحۡلِفُونَ عَلَى ٱلۡكَذِبِ وَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُونَ١٤
58:14. And do you not see that the hypocrites, who turn away from the guidance of Allah, have friendship with you? They never belong to you. You are not like them. So, any discussion with those hypocrites is a hoax. And they are the enemies of the rule of Allah.
أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٗا شَدِيدًاۖ إِنَّهُمۡ سَآءَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ١٥
58:15. Severe torment awaits such hypocrites. Because everything they do is evil.
ٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ أَيۡمَٰنَهُمۡ جُنَّةٗ فَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ مُّهِينٞ١٦
58:16. And they swear that they are surely followers of guidance and they take it as a shield to hinder in the way of Allah. That is why humiliating torments await them.
لَّن تُغۡنِيَ عَنۡهُمۡ أَمۡوَٰلُهُمۡ وَلَآ أَوۡلَٰدُهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيًۡٔاۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِۖ هُمۡ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ١٧
58:17. Thus, they act against the rule of Allah having money power and their supporters. They can never be saved from the law of “consequences for human deeds” prescribed by Allah. They are all hell dwellers. They will have to dwell there forever.
يَوۡمَ يَبۡعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ جَمِيعٗا فَيَحۡلِفُونَ لَهُۥ كَمَا يَحۡلِفُونَ لَكُمۡ وَيَحۡسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمۡ عَلَىٰ شَيۡءٍۚ أَلَآ إِنَّهُمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡكَٰذِبُونَ١٨
58:18. Now they are swearing to you like good people. But their hypocrisy will be exposed during the period of awareness among the people. Then everything they say that they are doing good will not go unnoticed. So, the truth will come out that they are liars.
ٱسۡتَحۡوَذَ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ فَأَنسَىٰهُمۡ ذِكۡرَ ٱللَّهِۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ حِزۡبُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِۚ أَلَآ إِنَّ حِزۡبَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ هُمُ ٱلۡخَٰسِرُونَ١٩
58:19. Because Satanic traits of selfishness, arrogance and vain pride plague them. So, they refrain from focusing on the side of Allah's guidance. Such are the crowds of devils. Know that the mob of devils will never succeed in their project.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحَآدُّونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ فِي ٱلۡأَذَلِّينَ٢٠
58:20. Therefore, all those who act against the guidance of Allah and the system of government formed on its basis will be humiliated.
كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَأَغۡلِبَنَّ أَنَا۠ وَرُسُلِيٓۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٞ٢١
58:21. Because in the battle between Justice and unjust, Allah has already decreed that Justice would win. The reformist who acts in support of this is sure to succeed. Surely the fact is that all of Allah's plans are mighty.
لَّا تَجِدُ قَوۡمٗا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ يُوَآدُّونَ مَنۡ حَآدَّ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَلَوۡ كَانُوٓاْ ءَابَآءَهُمۡ أَوۡ أَبۡنَآءَهُمۡ أَوۡ إِخۡوَٰنَهُمۡ أَوۡ عَشِيرَتَهُمۡۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ كَتَبَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلۡإِيمَٰنَ وَأَيَّدَهُم بِرُوحٖ مِّنۡهُۖ وَيُدۡخِلُهُمۡ جَنَّٰتٖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۚ رَضِيَ ٱللَّهُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَرَضُواْ عَنۡهُۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ حِزۡبُ ٱللَّهِۚ أَلَآ إِنَّ حِزۡبَ ٱللَّهِ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ٢٢
58:22. Those who wholeheartedly accept the guidance of Allah and law of “The consequences of human deeds” will never love those who are engaged in activities against sovereignty of Allah. Even if they are their parents, offspring, brothers or their relatives, they will never like them. (See also 3:118, 60: 4) This means that His guidance is rooted in their hearts. These are the blessed ones. Those are the ones who are entitled for heavenly life in this world and the next. All their living facilities are growing like a perineal river. Thus, any society which is united with the guidance of Rabbu has such a blessed well-being for all of them. Such are the forces of Allah who have defeated and conquered enemies of satanic nature.
Chapter No: 59 – Soorah: Al Hashar (Battle field)
