Chapter No. 60 – Soorah: Mumthihina (Cross Verification)
Whatever program we initiate in our life, will be as per the Pre-directed Guidelines of Allah, the Most Benevolent and the Most Merciful. (6:162)
60:1. O followers of Our guidance! Those who act against the rules prescribed by Allah are your enemies. So do not have deep friendships with such people. (See 3:118) You are trained according to the guidance of Rabbu You are acting in support of His regime. Because you realize that this is the right path. But they are engaged in anti-social activities against it. The love of friendship with such people can sabotage the regime.
And they are the ones who expelled you and those who followed Allah’s guidance and the by-laws governing the state. When you set out to seek the right path of Allah and dedicate yourself to His path, they are the ones who prevent you. So with such friendship, you may express the secret plans of the regime by slip of tongue. Hence this precaution. Remember that Allah knows what you have hidden in your hearts and what you reveal to others. Beyond this, if anyone befriends such social enemies, they too will be on the list of the ‘misguided’.
60:2. If they have the opportunity to bring you under their control, then you will know what their true status is. They will persecute you in many ways because of their hostility towards you and will also express their burden on you with inappropriate words. That much hypocrisy. They want you to be with them somehow.
60:3. Your relatives may be among such people. Your children and mother may be fathers. But this relationship will have no effect during the period of rule under His guidance. You get leverage to grow your business faster. Do not forget that every action you take is not without the supervision of Allah.
Is the advice of Allah bitter to you? Historical evidence bears witness to this. Especially when Reformist Ibrahim Nabi preached the guidance truths, you know what his father, relatives, and the people did. (See 19:46,21:68) Therefore
60:4. Notice how Reformist Ibrahim Nabi and his companions faced difficulties. Their historical facts will set an example for you. He repeatedly explained guidance truths to his father and the people. Yet they did not listen to his advice. So he announced that he would turn away from them and from what they worshiped.
He also announced that he would completely reject the religious rites which they were following. He observed the enmity and hatred were growing between him and them because of his firm determination to follow only the guidance of Allah, the One and Only.
So he finally said to his father, “As per the canon of Allah, I can never save you from the torment that will befall you. I have quoted the advice of Allah for your safe life. There is nothing that I can do about it.”
This is a collection of biographies of Reformist Ibrahim. There are many lessons for you in this. And he prayed, “O, our Rabbu! We want you to be completely dependent on your guidance. We look forward to your guidance in every aspect of life. Because every action we take goes towards the goal You have set for us.”
Dear intellectuals! The attachment that develops on the basis of blood relationship like father is not said to be completely discarded. But, when it comes to the policy of doctrines and guidance, these relationships must come second. Because the guidance is created for the benefit of the people as a whole. Blood relationship bonding seeks to protect the interests of those around it. Therefore,
60:5. “O, our Rabbu! Do not put us to the test between the principle of guidance and affection on relatives, who act against you. O, our Rabbu! We seek Your help for our safe life. We know that whatever guidance You give is exalted and wise.”
60:6. Those who accept Our guidance! If it is true that you have accepted Allah and His laws of “the ultimate result of human actions”, then you must follow their pattern mentioned above. Whoever disregards all these and is indifferent to faith with mere lip service, disaster will befall him. Allah is without any need. All his projects are commendable.
60:7. Those who accept the guidance of Rabbu! Many of those who oppose you now are enemies due to a misunderstanding of the truth. At some point, when they understand the truth, they will accept the guidance of Allah and join you. There will be an affectionate bond between you and them. Act calmly until then. Allah has the power to create such a bond of affection. All of Allah's schemes are for the protection of people in all aspects of life. This is the great mercy of Allah.
60:8. One more thing to keep in mind. Many of the people did not fight against the principles or ethics. They had no active part in the matter of evicting you. The law of Allah does not forbid you from doing good to such people and giving them justice. You can benefit them. Justice can also be provided. Remember that the love of Allah is available only to those who act righteously.
60:9. But some of them have fought against you and the principle of guidance. They have taken an active part in expelling you out of the land. There are those who helped in ousting you out of town. The law of Allah forbids you to make friendship with such people. Beyond this, those who have a relationship with such people will be on the list of ‘Injustices’.
60:10. O, followers of Our guidance! Examine the women who emigrated from their hometowns by accepting the guidance of Allah and participating in the welfare of the people. Who are they? which place do they come from? Include them with you only after thorough scrutiny as to what they are coming for. Allah knows the extent of involvement of guidance in their hearts.
So, if you know that they are true followers, do not send them back to the anti-socials. The evil ones will misuse these women. So, it is not right for these women to be with such men. They can't be with them either.
And arrange to pay for their travel expenses, if any. And if you want to marry them, make living facilities for them and marry them. There is nothing wrong with that. And you need not live with wives who do not accept the guidance of Allah.
So apostate women can get divorced if they seek divorce. You can also ask for compensation from them. This is the advice of Allah. His guidance provides a fair judgment among you. The guidance of Allah is all-encompassing and all-wise.
60:11. If the wives of some of you are trapped in the homes of enemies, arrange for their release by paying a certain amount of money as compensation to release them. If you are unable to pay the full amount due to lack of facilities, you may issue a promissory note to give the balance amount when you get facilities. In this way, help such women to recover and live with their husbands. If you have truly accepted the guidance of Allah, then do such good deeds.
60:12. O, Reformist! You are permitted to appoint women who have asked you for permission to engage in welfare work only after obtaining the promise of commitment. The promise is that they would not follow any other means equating with Allah’s rules. They would not manipulate the material of others. They would not have illicit relations with other men. They will not kill their children. (See 81: 8) Knowing well about those who work with them, they will not imagine and retaliate against them. They will not do anything against the rules of the government. Appoint them after making such a pledge. And lead a secure life for them through the rule of law.
60:13. O followers of Our Guidance! The command has come to those who act as per the rule of Allah. Let no one associate with social enemies anymore. The reason is that they live like walking corpses and they belong to the same race. Accepting Allah also means accepting the law of “the Ultimate result of human deeds” and acting accordingly. But refuters of guidance are those who live blindly without thinking about anything. In what way is friendship with such people perfect?
