بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Whatever program we initiate in our life, will be as per the Pre-Directed Guidelines of Allah, the Most Benevolent and the Most Merciful. (6:162)
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡمُزَّمِّلُ١
73:1. One who strives tirelessly to bring about social balance based on Our guidance!
قُمِ ٱلَّيۡلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا٢
73:2. Use only a portion of the night to convey Our guidance to like-minded ones.
نِّصۡفَهُۥٓ أَوِ ٱنقُصۡ مِنۡهُ قَلِيلًا٣
73:3. That means half the time of the night or a little less can be set aside for this. (See 17:79)
And the whole Qur’an cannot be understood overnight. And this advice is given because you and the people have long affairs during the day (see 73:7,73: 20).
أَوۡ زِدۡ عَلَيۡهِ وَرَتِّلِ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ تَرۡتِيلًا٤
73:4. Or take a little more than half of the night and explain to the people the contents of each topic of the Qur’an.
For example, if you want to comment on thalaq, you have to take the verses from Chapter 2:226-238 4:35, 65:1-7 and explain it to the people in a systematic way. Thus it is necessary to make clear to the people the teachings of the Holy Qur’an in every matter. (See 6:105,17:106, 25:32)
إِنَّا سَنُلۡقِي عَلَيۡكَ قَوۡلٗا ثَقِيلًا٥
73:5. O, Reformist! Thus, you will soon have to shoulder the great responsibility after clarifying Our guidance to the people.
That is, there is the task of establishing the social structure according to Our guidance and establishing Our Regime. And this is a very difficult task.
إِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ ٱلَّيۡلِ هِيَ أَشَدُّ وَطۡٔٗا وَأَقۡوَمُ قِيلًا٦
73:6. Teaching people the values of education and morality is essential. The purpose of asking you to choose the night time for this is that it will be very helpful to get rid of the day-to-day work and listen to these with full attention. And nights are a great time for solving community problems.
إِنَّ لَكَ فِي ٱلنَّهَارِ سَبۡحٗا طَوِيلٗا٧
73:7. And because you and others have extensive duties during the day, We told you to use a part of the night for this.
وَٱذۡكُرِ ٱسۡمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلۡ إِلَيۡهِ تَبۡتِيلٗا٨
73:8. Thus, tirelessly point out the excellence of Our administrative system and act with full attention to Our instructions to make it special. May you work to fulfill Our plans in a more beautiful way.
رَّبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقِ وَٱلۡمَغۡرِبِ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱتَّخِذۡهُ وَكِيلٗا٩
73:9. The administrative system of Allah, the One and Only Rabbu, is spread all over the world from east to west. So, this system is created to build the society based on Our guidance. So everyone should act with full attention to the way We have shown.
وَٱصۡبِرۡ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱهۡجُرۡهُمۡ هَجۡرٗا جَمِيلٗا١٠
73:10. And continue to focus on carrying out Our action plans, without caring much about the rhetoric of those who oppose this system. Beyond this, if they try to argue, stay away from them in a beautiful way.
وَذَرۡنِي وَٱلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ أُوْلِي ٱلنَّعۡمَةِ وَمَهِّلۡهُمۡ قَلِيلًا١١
73:11. Let those who disregard Our guidance, accumulate riches and enjoy themselves in their course. The consequences of their actions will occur after a period fixed by Us.
إِنَّ لَدَيۡنَآ أَنكَالٗا وَجَحِيمٗا١٢
73:12. We have prepared cudgels for such culprits. They are sure to get hellish torments.
وَطَعَامٗا ذَا غُصَّةٖ وَعَذَابًا أَلِيمٗا١٣
73:13. And the abominable food, which chokes the throat and the painful torments await them.
يَوۡمَ تَرۡجُفُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَٱلۡجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ كَثِيبٗا مَّهِيلًا١٤
73:14. In such a period, the position of those who have mounted wealth will be shaken. All their piles of wealth will be reduced to dunes, slipping away from them (see 20: 105).
This is not just a threat. It is certain that this will happen. Historical events speak for themselves. For example
إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَآ إِلَيۡكُمۡ رَسُولٗا شَٰهِدًا عَلَيۡكُمۡ كَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ رَسُولٗا١٥
73:15. Recollect the historical facts of what happened to Fir’aun, who ruled Egypt. We sent a reformist to him, just as sent to you to explain Our guidance with all evidences.
فَعَصَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذۡنَٰهُ أَخۡذٗا وَبِيلٗا١٦
73:16. But Fir’aun went astray, not following the way shown by the reformist. Thus, he fell into the clutches of the law of “The consequences of human deeds” prescribed by Us.
If that was the case with Fir’aun, who ruled the country with the power of government, can others escape the grip of Our law?
فَكَيۡفَ تَتَّقُونَ إِن كَفَرۡتُمۡ يَوۡمٗا يَجۡعَلُ ٱلۡوِلۡدَٰنَ شِيبًا١٧
73:17. So, if you refuse to accept Our guidance and act in an evil way, you will suffer the same fate as he did. Can a child be born and remain a child? As it grows older it will turn into an old man with gray hair.
Can anyone prevent this from happening? Just like that, the painful consequences of your evil deeds will be inevitable.
ٱلسَّمَآءُ مُنفَطِرُۢ بِهِۦۚ كَانَ وَعۡدُهُۥ مَفۡعُولًا١٨
73:18. Then the position of those in power will be as if the sky were split open. Following that the rule will develop in the way Rabbu has shown. Then his commands will be carried out.
إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦ تَذۡكِرَةٞۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا١٩
73:19. Do not think that this is just a threat. These are all Our instructions. So let any community who seeks the right path follow the path shown by Us and achieve the goal of their life.
O, Reformist! We talked at the beginning of this chapter about preaching to people at night. Further reference is given regarding it.
۞إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَعۡلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَقُومُ أَدۡنَىٰ مِن ثُلُثَيِ ٱلَّيۡلِ وَنِصۡفَهُۥ وَثُلُثَهُۥ وَطَآئِفَةٞ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَعَكَۚ وَٱللَّهُ يُقَدِّرُ ٱلَّيۡلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَۚ عَلِمَ أَن لَّن تُحۡصُوهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيۡكُمۡۖ فَٱقۡرَءُواْ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانِۚ
73:20. Allah knows that you and those who are with you assemble nearly two-thirds of the night, or half or one-third of it, to discuss the guidance of Rabbu. Allah has calculated the exact time of day and night and made it to work. But you also fail to notice the passing of the night because of the eagerness within you to seek His guidance. Please correct this error. Mention the things in the Qur’an to the extent that you can explain to them.
عَلِمَ أَن سَيَكُونُ مِنكُم مَّرۡضَىٰ وَءَاخَرُونَ يَضۡرِبُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ يَبۡتَغُونَ مِن فَضۡلِ ٱللَّهِ وَءَاخَرُونَ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۖ فَٱقۡرَءُواْ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنۡهُۚ وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَقۡرِضُواْ ٱللَّهَ قَرۡضًا حَسَنٗاۚ
In addition, the health of those who have assembled there must be taken into consideration. There will be some who seek the grace of Allah during the day. Among them will be warriors fighting in the way of Allah. So pay attention to them and explain the contents of the Qur’an in a simple manner at night. Thus establish a community welfare organization that maintains Our guidance.
وَمَا تُقَدِّمُواْ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنۡ خَيۡرٖ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ خَيۡرٗا وَأَعۡظَمَ أَجۡرٗاۚ وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ ٱللَّهَۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمُۢ٢٠
Thus, the rule of Allah will be formed. Let them know that whatever good things they do to accomplish, they do it for their own good. Let them know that the financial help they have rendered to the rule of Allah will multiply and come back to them with immense benefits. And seek the means of your safe life according to the decree of Allah. Surely Allah's guidance is given for the protection of people from all walks of life. This is the greatest mercy of Allah.
