Women in Social Reforms
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Whatever program we initiate in our life, will be as per the Pre-Directed Guidelines of Allah, the Most Benevolent and the Most Merciful. (6:162)
This chapter was revealed in the aftermath of the battle of Badr between those who supported the Islamic regime in Madinah and those who opposed it. So, the laws in it are introduced on a wartime basis. (Laws proclaimed under the Emergency period)
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱتَّقُواْ رَبَّكُمُ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفۡسٖ وَٰحِدَةٖ وَخَلَقَ مِنۡهَا زَوۡجَهَا وَبَثَّ مِنۡهُمَا رِجَالٗا كَثِيرٗا وَنِسَآءٗۚ
4:1. According to Allah’s plan, the creation of human beings began based on organic material called the Life Cell. (See: 6:98 & 39:6). The living cells then split into two, the male and the female (Spermatozoa & Ovum). As such, the human race spread through union of male and female throughout the world.
وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِي تَسَآءَلُونَ بِهِۦ وَٱلۡأَرۡحَامَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ رَقِيبٗا١
Necessary arrangements have been made by Allah to fulfill all human needs. (See: 14:32-33) Each of you is dependent on the other. Accept and live by the guidance of distribution system of livelihood prescribed by Allah, the One and Only. To begin with, you have to come forward to the aid of your blood relatives. Then, arrange for the administration of people from all walks of life. If you do so, you will have a peaceful and secure life as per the Pre-Directed Laws of Allah
That is, make arrangements for the basic needs of the people, such as food, clothing, and shelter. Considering the creation of Allah, it is unlikely that there will be a distinction between their children and the orphans. So, you have to fulfill the rights and needs of the orphans just as you are caring for your children
وَءَاتُواْ ٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰٓ أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡۖ وَلَا تَتَبَدَّلُواْ ٱلۡخَبِيثَ بِٱلطَّيِّبِۖ وَلَا تَأۡكُلُوٓاْ أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ إِلَىٰٓ أَمۡوَٰلِكُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حُوبٗا كَبِيرٗا٢
4:2. Those who take responsibility to protect the property of orphans must act reasonably. Do not misuse their wealth by adding useless items that belong to you to their wealth. So, they should keep their belongings separately and protect them until they reach adolescence (see: 4:6). It is a great crime to swallow their goods unjustly. That is, there is no excuse for this.
The problem will not be solved only by protecting the orphans who are destitute in society and by protecting their property. There will be some other issues beyond that as well. For example, there may arise a situation where more women will be more than men in society. Those women who have fled the country and taken refuge in your country in difficult situations such as war and riots (see: 60:10) and widows (see: 4:127).
وَإِنۡ خِفۡتُمۡ أَلَّا تُقۡسِطُواْ فِي ٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ فَٱنكِحُواْ مَا طَابَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ مَثۡنَىٰ وَثُلَٰثَ وَرُبَٰعَۖ
4:3. If there are no alternative arrangements to protect such vulnerable women during such critical periods, the Governing body may temporarily relax the Marriage Act. That is, during such an emergent situation, the Islamic regime would allow men to marry more than one, two, three, or four women of their choice.
فَإِنۡ خِفۡتُمۡ أَلَّا تَعۡدِلُواْ فَوَٰحِدَةً أَوۡ مَا مَلَكَتۡ أَيۡمَٰنُكُمۡۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَدۡنَىٰٓ أَلَّا تَعُولُواْ٣
In the absence of such a regime, the decision can thus be made to give life to vulnerable women personally. Those who are afraid that they would not be able to treat each other fairly after marrying, let them be content with the law of “One wife”. (See: 4:129) Or let them marry women who are already in service with them. This is the best way to live safely without injustice in society.
Remember. Allah has solemnly stated that one can never be equally righteous and affectionate between wives. But at least he treats the financially equal between wives (see: 4:129). However, in times of war and riots, it is permissible under the Guidance of Allah to marry more than one woman for the protection of helpless women. But marrying more than one woman in a smooth situation is not the norm.
Moreover, before the revelation of the Holy Quran, it was customary in the Arab world to buy and keep slave women for work. The Quran puts an end to slavery by giving them the status of wives by marrying them.
وَءَاتُواْ ٱلنِّسَآءَ صَدُقَٰتِهِنَّ نِحۡلَةٗۚ فَإِن طِبۡنَ لَكُمۡ عَن شَيۡءٖ مِّنۡهُ نَفۡسٗا فَكُلُوهُ هَنِيٓٔٗا مَّرِيٓٔٗا٤
4:4. For the women whom you marry in this way, the arrangements for the family supporting materials called, ‘Mahar’ should be made according to your status. These ‘Mahar gifts’ should not be given with the intention of getting back. Because, they are given out of affection. At the same time, there is nothing wrong with you using it if they voluntarily give it to you.
Remember. Wealth is the most important source of livelihood blessed by Allah. This wealth will support society to function on its own. It is therefore imperative to protect them for timely use.
وَلَا تُؤۡتُواْ ٱلسُّفَهَآءَ أَمۡوَٰلَكُمُ ٱلَّتِي جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمۡ قِيَٰمٗا وَٱرۡزُقُوهُمۡ فِيهَا وَٱكۡسُوهُمۡ وَقُولُواْ لَهُمۡ قَوۡلٗا مَّعۡرُوفٗا٥
4:5. It is not right to have minors who do not know the importance of their properties. Guardians are therefore needed to protect them. However, the main duty is to make arrangements for the basic needs of the orphans such as food, clothing, and shelter. So, talk to them nicely and kindly, teach them worldly education and moral values , and give them practice well.
وَٱبۡتَلُواْ ٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغُواْ ٱلنِّكَاحَ فَإِنۡ ءَانَسۡتُم مِّنۡهُمۡ رُشۡدٗا فَٱدۡفَعُوٓاْ إِلَيۡهِمۡ أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡۖ
4:6. Not only that but also you have to monitor the extent to which orphans' knowledge and performance are growing. Raise them until they reach the adult age of marriage. (See: 6:153,17:34 & 40:67) And if you think that they are mature enough to maintain their property, hand over them.
وَلَا تَأۡكُلُوهَآ إِسۡرَافٗا وَبِدَارًا أَن يَكۡبَرُواْۚ
Do not attempt to seize their property by making a hasty false account of spending, with the intention that you have to repay their property, once they reach the age of majority (Major).
وَمَن كَانَ غَنِيّٗا فَلۡيَسۡتَعۡفِفۡۖ وَمَن كَانَ فَقِيرٗا فَلۡيَأۡكُلۡ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۚ فَإِذَا دَفَعۡتُمۡ إِلَيۡهِمۡ أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ فَأَشۡهِدُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ حَسِيبٗا٦
And if those who take the responsibility for protecting orphans are wealthy, let them bear the maintenance cost by themselves and if they are poor, then they may collect the maintenance charges. When handing over the property to them, make up with two witnesses and hand it over to them. So, bear in mind that you are handing over them in presence of Allah, the Almighty in the reckoning. So, hand them over in a good way.
لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٞ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلۡوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلۡأَقۡرَبُونَ وَلِلنِّسَآءِ نَصِيبٞ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلۡوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلۡأَقۡرَبُونَ مِمَّا قَلَّ مِنۡهُ أَوۡ كَثُرَۚ نَصِيبٗا مَّفۡرُوضٗا٧
4:7. Men get a share in the property left by their parents or close relatives. The same goes for women also. Whether the property left is small or large, they have the right to claim their share. Men are not the only ones involved in segregation. Women are also entitled to it. (See: 4:32) This is a law defined by Allah.
وَإِذَا حَضَرَ ٱلۡقِسۡمَةَ أُوْلُواْ ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ وَٱلۡمَسَٰكِينُ فَٱرۡزُقُوهُم مِّنۡهُ وَقُولُواْ لَهُمۡ قَوۡلٗا مَّعۡرُوفٗا٨
4:8. At the time of partitioning, if there are relatives (or) orphans who are not entitled to the property, take care of them too and give them away from the property. If not, kindly tell them that due care would be taken about them, as this parting is done as per His guidance.
If the heirs are hard-hearted, the owner of the property has to allot a share to the poor relatives who are not entitled to the property. (See: 2:180)
وَلۡيَخۡشَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَوۡ تَرَكُواْ مِنۡ خَلۡفِهِمۡ ذُرِّيَّةٗ ضِعَٰفًا خَافُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡ فَلۡيَتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَلۡيَقُولُواْ قَوۡلٗا سَدِيدًا٩
4:9. If you fear that the heirs are mentally unsound, then make necessary arrangements to see that they are not wronged. Follow the guidance of Allah. You need to give a clear idea to the people taking charge of the property maintenance of your heirs.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَأۡكُلُونَ أَمۡوَٰلَ ٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ ظُلۡمًا إِنَّمَا يَأۡكُلُونَ فِي بُطُونِهِمۡ نَارٗاۖ وَسَيَصۡلَوۡنَ سَعِيرٗا١٠
4:10. Remember. Let those who are thus taking responsibility know that those who misuse their property are pouring fire on their bellies. The greed and haste of amassing wealth will give them a restless and painful life in future
4:11. Then comes the Law of Inheritance as follows:
يُوصِيكُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِيٓ أَوۡلَٰدِكمُ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثۡلُ حَظِّ ٱلۡأُنثَيَيۡنِۚ
1. The property of the deceased will be divided in the proportion of two shares for the male and one share for the female.
فَإِن كُنَّ نِسَآءٗ فَوۡقَ ٱثۡنَتَيۡنِ فَلَهُنَّ ثُلُثَا مَا تَرَكَۖ
2. If the females are only two or more, they get a two-thirds share. The rest will be shared among other close relatives.
وَإِن كَانَتۡ وَٰحِدَةٗ فَلَهَا ٱلنِّصۡفُۚ
3. If there is only one woman, half of the property will be available to her. The rest will be shared among other close relatives.
وَلِأَبَوَيۡهِ لِكُلِّ وَٰحِدٖ مِّنۡهُمَا ٱلسُّدُسُ مِمَّا تَرَكَ إِن كَانَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٞۚ
4. If the deceased is survived by the mother and father along with the children, each of them will receive one-sixth of the property.
فَإِن لَّمۡ يَكُن لَّهُۥ وَلَدٞ وَوَرِثَهُۥٓ أَبَوَاهُ فَلِأُمِّهِ ٱلثُّلُثُۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُۥٓ إِخۡوَةٞ فَلِأُمِّهِ ٱلسُّدُ
5. If the deceased has no children, the parents are the heirs to the estate. One-third to the mother and two-thirds to the father. If the deceased had no children, the mother would receive one-sixth of the share, if there were siblings too. That is, the property will be divided into six parts and one share goes to the mother, the remaining one-fifth to the brothers, and the four shares to the father.
مِنۢ بَعۡدِ وَصِيَّةٖ يُوصِي بِهَآ أَوۡ دَيۡنٍۗ ءَابَآؤُكُمۡ وَأَبۡنَآؤُكُمۡ
Remember. This partition will be done only after the debts of the deceased are paid off. Calculate how much debt he owes and set it aside from that property first. Then he has to go to the assets in the will and make a division from the remaining property.
لَا تَدۡرُونَ أَيُّهُمۡ أَقۡرَبُ لَكُمۡ نَفۡعٗاۚ فَرِيضَةٗ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمٗا١١
In case the property holder has not written the Will, then divide it according to the above procedure. So, you never know who will be closest to you in benefiting your parents and children. This is why the method of dividing this part is determined by Allah. Because of course, these legal provisions of Allah are made based on academic wisdom.
4:12. Now it is about the division of property available through marriage bonds.
۞وَلَكُمۡ نِصۡفُ مَا تَرَكَ أَزۡوَٰجُكُمۡ إِن لَّمۡ يَكُن لَّهُنَّ وَلَدٞۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٞ فَلَكُمُ ٱلرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكۡنَۚ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ وَصِيَّةٖ يُوصِينَ بِهَآ أَوۡ دَيۡنٖۚ
(1) In the absence of children, the husband gets exactly half of the assets left by his wife. If there are children, he will get one-fourth. That too after paying loans, if any, in her name and after separating the property which she has already executed through her Will.
وَلَهُنَّ ٱلرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكۡتُمۡ إِن لَّمۡ يَكُن لَّكُمۡ وَلَدٞۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمۡ وَلَدٞ فَلَهُنَّ ٱلثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكۡتُمۚ مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ وَصِيَّةٖ تُوصُونَ بِهَآ أَوۡ دَيۡنٖۗ
(2) In the absence of any children, the wife gets one-fourth of the assets left by her husband. If there are children, one-eighth will be her share. This too will be subdivided from the debts in his name and the remaining assets after separating the wills he wrote himself.
That means all you have to do is first look at how much debt the deceased had and what will he has written. The husband and wife must take into account the rest of the relatives (see 4:33). After this, the remaining property is to be divided between the heirs, son, grandson, granddaughter, or parents’ paternal grandfather.
وَإِن كَانَ رَجُلٞ يُورَثُ كَلَٰلَةً أَوِ ٱمۡرَأَةٞ وَلَهُۥٓ أَخٌ أَوۡ أُخۡتٞ فَلِكُلِّ وَٰحِدٖ مِّنۡهُمَا ٱلسُّدُسُۚ
(3) If the deceased had no children and the mother and father were alive and a brother, and a sister, would get one-sixth each. If there are more than one sister, one-third of the property will be taken and divided equally. If the deceased does not have a parent, it will be divided according to 4:176
فَإِن كَانُوٓاْ أَكۡثَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ فَهُمۡ شُرَكَآءُ فِي ٱلثُّلُثِۚ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ وَصِيَّةٖ يُوصَىٰ بِهَآ أَوۡ دَيۡنٍ غَيۡرَ مُضَآرّٖۚ وَصِيَّةٗ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَلِيمٞ١٢
Remember. This division of property will be made after all the debts owed by the deceased and the remaining assets will go as per the will he has left behind. If the Islamic court considers that the testament of the deceased is faulty and detrimental to the heirs, it may be tried by the Court of Law (see: 2:182) These are the rules prescribed by Allah. No one should violate them. Because these are not the rules made in a hurry. It is a law established by Allah Almighty.
تِلۡكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّهِۚ وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ يُدۡخِلۡهُ جَنَّٰتٖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۚ وَذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ١٣
4:13. These are the basic permanent laws prescribed by Allah (Constitutions). Based on this By-Laws are enacted. Any society that obeys the law of Allah and the By-Laws enacted through the Messenger of Allah (Laws Governing the State) the country will be in a heavenly state. That is, as the perennial rivers, generous economic facilities will increase and the country will be full of lasting happiness. Isn’t this a grand success?
وَمَن يَعۡصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَيَتَعَدَّ حُدُودَهُۥ يُدۡخِلۡهُ نَارًا خَٰلِدٗا فِيهَا وَلَهُۥ عَذَابٞ مُّهِينٞ١٤
4:14. Instead, a society that disobeys the guidance of Allah and the by-laws governing the state based on it will become hell. That is, when one transgresses the limits of Allah, society will act selfishly according to its own will. So there, the law and order will become worse and will experience unrest. There would be no way to get rid of it. Thus, society will experience humiliation and suffering.
So far, we have studied matters related to the protection and division of the property. Let us now look at the culture and moral values of the people of the country. These also play a vital role in the development and harmony of the country. So, it is very important to take care of these matters. In that way, it is necessary to have restrictions on the occurrence of male-female relationships in society. So, a socially recognized registered marriage system is instituted. Otherwise, everyone will be free to keep in touch with women without getting social recognition and society will deteriorate over time.
وَٱلَّٰتِي يَأۡتِينَ ٱلۡفَٰحِشَةَ مِن نِّسَآئِكُمۡ فَٱسۡتَشۡهِدُواْ عَلَيۡهِنَّ أَرۡبَعَةٗ مِّنكُمۡۖ فَإِن شَهِدُواْ فَأَمۡسِكُوهُنَّ فِي ٱلۡبُيُوتِ حَتَّىٰ يَتَوَفَّىٰهُنَّ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ أَوۡ يَجۡعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُنَّ سَبِيلٗا١٥
4:15. So, if there are allegations of misconduct on the part of women, it should be investigated. It must be accompanied by at least four witnesses. If proved, such women should be detained at the Women's Reformation Center for life term. Or make arrangements for her to be rehabilitated. That is, if she is not married, you can arrange for a wedding. Thus, they should be kept in prison until alternative arrangements are made.
This can prevent immoral acts from taking place among women in society. If they do not prove their guilt, the complainant should be flogged eighty times (see:24:4). Women alone cannot be held responsible for illicit sex. It should be recommended to punish women along with men if they are involved in illicit sex. So, both men and women are equal in the matter of punishment.
وَٱلَّذَانِ يَأۡتِيَٰنِهَا مِنكُمۡ فََٔاذُوهُمَاۖ فَإِن تَابَا وَأَصۡلَحَا فَأَعۡرِضُواْ عَنۡهُمَآۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ تَوَّابٗا رَّحِيمًا١٦
4:16. If the woman is proved guilty, she deserves punishment. But there is a place in the law of Allah to warn and forgive those who realize that they have done wrong in ignorance and ask for forgiveness. This is the grace of Allah.
That is, if the concerned authorities recommend to the government that such convicts who have been imprisoned have been deported, the Court Guard may investigate and release them and give them another chance to live with discipline.
إِنَّمَا ٱلتَّوۡبَةُ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ لِلَّذِينَ يَعۡمَلُونَ ٱلسُّوٓءَ بِجَهَٰلَةٖ ثُمَّ يَتُوبُونَ مِن قَرِيبٖ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ يَتُوبُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡهِمۡۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمٗا١٧
4:17. So, whatever evil deeds are done, if done in ignorance, it should be stopped and changed immediately. There is forgiveness in the law of Allah only for those who repent and live in such a way as advised by Allah. This is because all these legal schemes were established by Allah based on His wisdom.
وَلَيۡسَتِ ٱلتَّوۡبَةُ لِلَّذِينَ يَعۡمَلُونَ ٱلسَّئَِّاتِ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَهُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ قَالَ إِنِّي تُبۡتُ ٱلۡـَٰٔنَ وَلَا ٱلَّذِينَ يَمُوتُونَ وَهُمۡ كُفَّارٌۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَعۡتَدۡنَا لَهُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِيمٗا١٨
4:18. On the other hand, if a person is involved in evil deeds for life long and on the verge of death, if he seeks forgiveness, he will not be forgiven. And those who continue to do evil deeds and die in defiance of Allah's law also, there is no forgiveness for them. Tragic torments will be inflicted on such evildoers.
So far, we have looked at the rules of security and the moral dignity of society. Next, we will look at the rules of family affairs. There is one basic thing to keep in mind in this regard. That is, they are allowed to marry their favorite women in the matter of marriage (see: 4: 3). Similarly, the consent of women is also required to get married.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا يَحِلُّ لَكُمۡ أَن تَرِثُواْ ٱلنِّسَآءَ كَرۡهٗاۖ وَلَا تَعۡضُلُوهُنَّ لِتَذۡهَبُواْ بِبَعۡضِ مَآ ءَاتَيۡتُمُوهُنَّ إِلَّآ أَن يَأۡتِينَ بِفَٰحِشَةٖ مُّبَيِّنَةٖۚ وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۚ فَإِن كَرِهۡتُمُوهُنَّ فَعَسَىٰٓ أَن تَكۡرَهُواْ شَيۡٔٗا وَيَجۡعَلَ ٱللَّهُ فِيهِ خَيۡرٗا كَثِيرٗا١٩
4:19. So, do not forcibly marry women who do not like you. You should not harass them to get back the items you have given at the time of marriage. Do not restrain them against their will. If it is clear to you that they are committing indecent acts, you have the right to withdraw some of the items through an Islamic court. You treat your wife kindly. If you do not like her actions, try to correct them without hating her. Handle anything patiently. This rule may seem disgusting to you. You will get the ways to have a better happy life with the advice of Allah.
وَإِنۡ أَرَدتُّمُ ٱسۡتِبۡدَالَ زَوۡجٖ مَّكَانَ زَوۡجٖ وَءَاتَيۡتُمۡ إِحۡدَىٰهُنَّ قِنطَارٗا فَلَا تَأۡخُذُواْ مِنۡهُ شَيًۡٔاۚ أَتَأۡخُذُونَهُۥ بُهۡتَٰنٗا وَإِثۡمٗا مُّبِينٗا٢٠
4:20. If you seek to divorce your spouse with the intent of marrying another woman, it is not proper to get back the Mahar gifts you gave her. Even if you have given her the gold pottery, don't take them back. She should not be blamed or harassed to get her property back from her. This is a great sin.
وَكَيۡفَ تَأۡخُذُونَهُۥ وَقَدۡ أَفۡضَىٰ بَعۡضُكُمۡ إِلَىٰ بَعۡضٖ وَأَخَذۡنَ مِنكُم مِّيثَٰقًا غَلِيظٗا٢١
4:21. The husband-wife relationship is like nails and flesh. How is it fair to think of getting back the gifts from your wife with whom you have promised to look after the welfare of each other for their entire life, you have entered into a marriage contract and have lived with her very intimately.
وَلَا تَنكِحُواْ مَا نَكَحَ ءَابَآؤُكُم مِّنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ إِلَّا مَا قَدۡ سَلَفَۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَٰحِشَةٗ وَمَقۡتٗا وَسَآءَ سَبِيلًا٢٢
4:22. Also, you have to know which woman is forbidden to marry. First on the list is your father's married woman (Step-mother). She is the equivalent of your mother. So do not marry her. Because it is a disgraceful, hateful, and evil act. But if you have already married before these revelations, there is no objection to keeping it as it is. This should not happen in future.
حُرِّمَتۡ عَلَيۡكُمۡ أُمَّهَٰتُكُمۡ وَبَنَاتُكُمۡ وَأَخَوَٰتُكُمۡ وَعَمَّٰتُكُمۡ وَخَٰلَٰتُكُمۡ وَبَنَاتُ ٱلۡأَخِ وَبَنَاتُ ٱلۡأُخۡتِ وَأُمَّهَٰتُكُمُ ٱلَّٰتِيٓ أَرۡضَعۡنَكُمۡ وَأَخَوَٰتُكُم مِّنَ ٱلرَّضَٰعَةِ وَأُمَّهَٰتُ نِسَآئِكُمۡ وَرَبَٰٓئِبُكُمُ ٱلَّٰتِي فِي حُجُورِكُم مِّن نِّسَآئِكُمُ ٱلَّٰتِي دَخَلۡتُم بِهِنَّ فَإِن لَّمۡ تَكُونُواْ دَخَلۡتُم بِهِنَّ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَحَلَٰٓئِلُ أَبۡنَآئِكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِنۡ أَصۡلَٰبِكُمۡ وَأَن تَجۡمَعُواْ بَيۡنَ ٱلۡأُخۡتَيۡنِ إِلَّا مَا قَدۡ سَلَفَۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورٗا رَّحِيمٗا٢٣
4:23. You should also know other women who are forbidden to marry. It is forbidden to marry your mother who gave birth to you, your daughters, your sisters, your father's sisters (aunts), your mother's sisters, your brother's daughters, your sister's daughters, your nursed mother, the daughter of your nursed mother, your wife's mother. Likewise, you should not marry a daughter who was born to her ex-husband and is under your supervision after you marry a woman and have a relationship with her. But if you did not have physical relationship with that woman, there is nothing wrong divorcing her and marrying the daughter born to her ex-husband. Do not marry the wife (daughter-in-law) of your sons. It is also forbidden to have two sisters as wives at the same time. However, in the age of ignorance, marriages have already taken place, you can leave it as it is. That is, do not intend to divorce after the enactment of this law. The provision of Allah is full of protection and mercy to all sections of people.
Part - 5
۞وَٱلۡمُحۡصَنَٰتُ مِنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ إِلَّا مَا مَلَكَتۡ أَيۡمَٰنُكُمۡۖ كِتَٰبَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيۡكُمۡۚ
4:24. And you are forbidden to marry women who are already married and live in a marital accord. As for the female refugees who have converted to Islam, who have come and stayed with you for security reasons, you can marry them if you wish. These are the definitions that Allah has set for you.
وَأُحِلَّ لَكُم مَّا وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكُمۡ أَن تَبۡتَغُواْ بِأَمۡوَٰلِكُم مُّحۡصِنِينَ غَيۡرَ مُسَٰفِحِينَۚ فَمَا ٱسۡتَمۡتَعۡتُم بِهِۦ مِنۡهُنَّ
You can marry any woman other than the women prohibited above. But he has to perform a registered marriage (nikah) according to the rules of The Marriage Act. Thus, one should become a lifelong couple who cares for the welfare of the other. Leaving this aside, it is not proper to form a marital relationship to enjoy mere sex.
فََٔاتُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ فَرِيضَةٗۚ وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فِيمَا تَرَٰضَيۡتُم بِهِۦ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ٱلۡفَرِيضَةِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمٗا٢٤
Life-supporting facilities called ‘Mahar’ have to be given as prescribed. This can be increased or decreased with the consent of both parties. There is nothing wrong with that. Beware of the fact that nothing escapes from the knowledge and wisdom of Allah.
وَمَن لَّمۡ يَسۡتَطِعۡ مِنكُمۡ طَوۡلًا أَن يَنكِحَ ٱلۡمُحۡصَنَٰتِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِ فَمِن مَّا مَلَكَتۡ أَيۡمَٰنُكُم مِّن فَتَيَٰتِكُمُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِۚ وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِإِيمَٰنِكُمۚ بَعۡضُكُم مِّنۢ بَعۡضٖۚ
4:25. Those who do not have the opportunity to marry a free-spirited woman can marry other servant-type women who have converted to Islam and are under service. Thus, the enslavement of women will gradually be eliminated and social stability will occur. Allah knows what you are doing and how obedient you are. Do not think that it is disgraceful to marry a working woman. Whenever she converts to Islam and marries you, she becomes equal to other Mu'min women.
فَٱنكِحُوهُنَّ بِإِذۡنِ أَهۡلِهِنَّ وَءَاتُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ مُحۡصَنَٰتٍ غَيۡرَ مُسَٰفِحَٰتٖ وَلَا مُتَّخِذَٰتِ أَخۡدَانٖۚ
But it is important to get permission from her boss about marrying his working woman. Then he has to make arrangements for life-supportive materials called ‘Mahar ‘and get married according to the rules. So, the Nikah is a contract for both husband and wife to live a chaste and cordial life. (See– 5:5)
فَإِذَآ أُحۡصِنَّ فَإِنۡ أَتَيۡنَ بِفَٰحِشَةٖ فَعَلَيۡهِنَّ نِصۡفُ مَا عَلَى ٱلۡمُحۡصَنَٰتِ مِنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِۚ
Thus, if he finds out that she is perhaps engaging in misconduct after marriage she will be punished with half of the lashes given to other free women. However, those who persevere and act following the guidance of Allah will have the help and protection of Allah.
* ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنۡ خَشِيَ ٱلۡعَنَتَ مِنكُمۡۚ وَأَن تَصۡبِرُواْ خَيۡرٞ لَّكُمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ٢٥
The reason why the No. of Lashes is reduced to half is because they would have been accustomed to inappropriate actions due to the circumstances in which they grew up. They will be under the impression that there is nothing wrong with doing such things. It will take some time for such people to change. That is why their punishment is halved. You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people. Because you aim to get rid of their bad habits and make them better Muslim women. Verily Allah is always the Protector and Merciful.
يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَكُمۡ وَيَهۡدِيَكُمۡ سُنَنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ وَيَتُوبَ عَلَيۡكُمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٞ٢٦
4:26. Thus, detailed regulations regarding domestic life are clarified by Allah. These are made known to you to make it clear how the earlier societies practiced these regulations, lived happily and prosperously. It is the will of Allah to make you live better in the same way. As such, the guidance of Allah is based on clear educational wisdom.
وَٱللَّهُ يُرِيدُ أَن يَتُوبَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَيُرِيدُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ ٱلشَّهَوَٰتِ أَن تَمِيلُواْ مَيۡلًا عَظِيمٗا٢٧
4:27. It is the will of Allah to guide you from evil deeds to lead a better life. But those who want to live according to their will and pleasure, want you all to immerse in the sinful acts and face destruction.
يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ أَن يُخَفِّفَ عَنكُمۡۚ وَخُلِقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ ضَعِيفٗا٢٨
4:28. The guidance of Allah seeks to remove your grievances and make you live happily. But there is a weakness in human creation of being easily addicted to any evil habits.
If Man wants to live on his own accord without Allah’s guidance, he will easily become addicted to his physical desires. This will cause many problems in his life and his life will become miserable. Allah knows best. Therefore, His guidance wants you to live a comfortable life without engaging in sinful acts and suffering. When a man becomes addicted to his desires, he begins to develop greed for accumulating wealth. He will not hesitate to handle any means to fulfill his greed. Doing so in the wrong way will only have bad consequences for society.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَأۡكُلُوٓاْ أَمۡوَٰلَكُم بَيۡنَكُم بِٱلۡبَٰطِلِ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ تِجَٰرَةً عَن تَرَاضٖ مِّنكُمۡۚ وَلَا تَقۡتُلُوٓاْ أَنفُسَكُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُمۡ رَحِيمٗا٢٩
4:29. O Followers of Allah’s guidance! You exchange each other the commodities of your life. This is business. There is nothing wrong with that. But it is not proper for one to seize another's goods unjustly. (2:188) Because of that, there will be quarrels and murders. Do not create a situation like this. Surely the guidance of Allah is for the good of all peoples. This is the greatest mercy of Allah.
وَمَن يَفۡعَلۡ ذَٰلِكَ عُدۡوَٰنٗا وَظُلۡمٗا فَسَوۡفَ نُصۡلِيهِ نَارٗاۚ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرًا٣٠
4:30. Despite these clear warnings, if any one develops a society that unjustly manipulates others’ goods and engages in illegal activity, he will soon be caught in the torments of hell. This is because, in a society inhabited by selfish people who do not care about the common good, it is natural that inequalities do arise and perish.
إِن تَجۡتَنِبُواْ كَبَآئِرَ مَا تُنۡهَوۡنَ عَنۡهُ نُكَفِّرۡ عَنكُمۡ سَئَِّاتِكُمۡ وَنُدۡخِلۡكُم مُّدۡخَلٗا كَرِيمٗا٣١
4:31. Do not take these forbidden things in a lighter sense. Because these are acts that degrade humanity. If you avoid this, the evils within you will be removed and the situation will become smoother and you will get respectful value.
As for the law of inheritance, it does not mean that it belongs only to men and not to women. Their sharing details are already explained in 4:7. Likewise, if society is under the impression that earnings are a right only for men, women have no right or they are ineligible it will cause disparity. Because women can do all those social works that men can do (see: 33:35).
وَلَا تَتَمَنَّوۡاْ مَا فَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦ بَعۡضَكُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖۚ لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٞ مِّمَّا ٱكۡتَسَبُواْۖ وَلِلنِّسَآءِ نَصِيبٞ مِّمَّا ٱكۡتَسَبۡنَۚ وَسَۡٔلُواْ ٱللَّهَ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦٓۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءٍ عَلِيمٗا٣٢
4:32. So, when you observe the male and female physique, there are some differences and specialties according to the canon of Allah. No one needs to be proud of others for this. Women can also seek the grace of Allah to fulfill their livelihood needs. As such, women can earn their share and men their share. It is guidance from Allah who has full knowledge of who can do what.
وَلِكُلّٖ جَعَلۡنَا مَوَٰلِيَ مِمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلۡوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلۡأَقۡرَبُونَۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ عَقَدَتۡ أَيۡمَٰنُكُمۡ فََٔاتُوهُمۡ نَصِيبَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ شَهِيدًا٣٣
4:33. The ratio of sharing property left by men and women is stated in 4:11. Property in the name of the father and close relatives should be formally subdivided. But the heirs must first give the share to those in the marriage bond and divide the balance shares among the other heirs. That is, the property sharing in the husband's name must first be allotted to the wife or the property in the wife's name to the husband. So do not forget that Allah is a witness to all your deeds.
The physical characteristics of both men and women are mentioned at 4:31. That means things like maternity and mammal rearing can only be done by women. Thus, their chances of earning will be less. Men fulfill this shortcoming.
ٱلرِّجَالُ قَوَّٰمُونَ عَلَى ٱلنِّسَآءِ بِمَا فَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ بَعۡضَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖ وَبِمَآ أَنفَقُواْ مِنۡ أَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡۚ فَٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتُ قَٰنِتَٰتٌ حَٰفِظَٰتٞ لِّلۡغَيۡبِ بِمَا حَفِظَ ٱللَّهُۚ
4:34. Thus, according to the system created by Allah, in some matters, the male and some the female are superior to the other. The men take on the responsibility of family maintenance. Women take care of family management from men’s income. The women of this family behave as per the rules and morals prescribed by Allah. They will protect their chastity.
وَٱلَّٰتِي تَخَافُونَ نُشُوزَهُنَّ فَعِظُوهُنَّ وَٱهۡجرُوهُنَّ فِي ٱلۡمَضَاجِعِ وَٱضۡرِبُوهُنَّۖ فَإِنۡ أَطَعۡنَكُمۡ فَلَا تَبۡغُواْ عَلَيۡهِنَّ سَبِيلًاۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيّٗا كَبِيرٗا٣٤
Now, social morality is about women engaging in degrading acts. Take appropriate steps to correct them. Community leaders should call such women and advise them. That is, they should be warned about the adverse consequences of their misconduct. If you find that their misconduct continues beyond that, isolate them at home and set them aside. And if they do not mend, they will be punished by the court according to the law of Allah. Such action will restore law and order in society. Social harmony will also occur. So, if they accept and correct themselves as per your advice, do not take any action against them. The same law applies to men. (Ref: 4:128)
These are the rules of regulation set by Allah for both men and women.
وَإِنۡ خِفۡتُمۡ شِقَاقَ بَيۡنِهِمَا فَٱبۡعَثُواْ حَكَمٗا مِّنۡ أَهۡلِهِۦ وَحَكَمٗا مِّنۡ أَهۡلِهَآ
4:35. Apart from this, if the juries of the Jam’ath or social Activist receive any complaints about the dispute between husband and wife and fear that the dispute will end up in permanent separation, then they have to appoint arbitrators for counseling each from the husband and wife’s side.
إِن يُرِيدَآ إِصۡلَٰحٗا يُوَفِّقِ ٱللَّهُ بَيۡنَهُمَآۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا خَبِيرٗا٣٥
The Law of Allah says that reconciliation between them at that stage is permissible and they can live together as before. Therefore, the arbitrators should approach the husband and wife with good intentions to resolve the dispute. Because all the laws of Allah are based on academic wisdom.
Beyond this, if the rift between the husband and wife is not resolved, the Islamic court or Jam’ath is permitted to grant a divorce as per the provisions in Chapter Nos. 2:227- 242 and 65:1-6.
۞وَٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُشۡرِكُواْ بِهِۦ شَيۡٔٗاۖ وَبِٱلۡوَٰلِدَيۡنِ إِحۡسَٰنٗا
4:36. After the family affairs, suggestions with regard to relatives arise. Whether it is the matter of husband and wife or relatives, do not follow any other path parallel to the guidance of Allah. If you want social reform to take place, you have to start it with your parents. They should be treated with love and compassion (see: 17:23-24 & 31:14). To fulfill their needs beautifully.
وَبِذِي ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ وَٱلۡمَسَٰكِينِ وَٱلۡجَارِ ذِي ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَٱلۡجَارِ ٱلۡجُنُبِ وَٱلصَّاحِبِ بِٱلۡجَنۢبِ وَٱبۡنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَمَا مَلَكَتۡ أَيۡمَٰنُكُمۡۗ
As well as close relatives, the destitute in the community, the physically handicapped who are unable to earn, the needy in the neighborhood, the comrades who work in the way of Allah, those who travel for it, the staff you have, help them to alleviate their misery according to your convenience.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَن كَانَ مُخۡتَالٗا فَخُورًا٣٦
So only those who like and care about the welfare of the community will engage in such good deeds and lead a happy life. On the contrary, those who are selfish and engaged in mere words do not even think about it. Even if you tell them they would not follow it. Such people will not get the blessings of Allah.
ٱلَّذِينَ يَبۡخَلُونَ وَيَأۡمُرُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ بِٱلۡبُخۡلِ وَيَكۡتُمُونَ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦۗ وَأَعۡتَدۡنَا لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٗا مُّهِينٗا٣٧
4:37. Such people think that all their earnings are only for themselves. Not only that, they teach others too that there is nothing wrong with that. So, they think they all belong to them and secure them. Remember! The accumulation of the means of subsistence, which are the bounties of Allah, in excess of one's need - that is, the hoarding for one's good without being used for the betterment of society, is an act of ungratefulness to Allah. The humiliating torments will be inflicted on such people.
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ رِئَآءَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَلَا بِٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِۗ وَمَن يَكُنِ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ لَهُۥ قَرِينٗا فَسَآءَ قَرِينٗا٣٨
4:38. Some of these people will give charity just to show off to people for fame. It would mean that they have not accepted the guidance of Allah and the His framed law of "the result of human deeds". (See also 2:263) These are the ones who associate with their desires. It will drag them to the side of evil.
That is to say, they are giving charity to the poor to get the name and fame as "Philanthropist". There will assume that this is an excellent act. But as recipients become more accustomed to begging, they will not think about social backwardness instead of progress.
وَمَاذَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ لَوۡ ءَامَنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ وَأَنفَقُواْ مِمَّا رَزَقَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِمۡ عَلِيمًا٣٩
4:39. Instead, what is wrong with them accepting the guidance of Allah and the law of consequences for human actions? If they fund to a social/governing body that works creatively for welfare projects according to the instructions of Allah? That system will take care of everyone's growth. And Allah is not unaware of all the deeds of man!
Everyone’s actions will be based on their thoughts and intentions. So whatever one does, the benefits and consequences will follow him.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَظۡلِمُ مِثۡقَالَ ذَرَّةٖۖ وَإِن تَكُ حَسَنَةٗ يُضَٰعِفۡهَا وَيُؤۡتِ مِن لَّدُنۡهُ أَجۡرًا عَظِيمٗا٤٠
4:40. So, there can never be any injustice from Allah on anyone. On the contrary, whatever good deed one does, he will get the multiplied rewards for it from Allah’s System.
فَكَيۡفَ إِذَا جِئۡنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةِۢ بِشَهِيدٖ وَجِئۡنَا بِكَ عَلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ شَهِيدٗا٤١
4:41. How good it would be, if society had developed better, selected competent officials from every town who would testify to honesty, and stood by you as the leader of those responsible, standing by and supporting everyone? (See: 2-143)
يَوۡمَئِذٖ يَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَعَصَوُاْ ٱلرَّسُولَ لَوۡ تُسَوَّىٰ بِهِمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَلَا يَكۡتُمُونَ ٱللَّهَ حَدِيثٗا٤٢
4:42. During the period of the formation of such a regime, those who reject the guidance of Allah and act against the Constitutional rules will be severely punished. Unable to bear its pain, they would long for the earth to swallow them up before such a disgrace occurs. That is, they would be longing for death. Even if such a situation does not arise in this world, they will surely experience this pain after death. This is because the law of Allah, the One and Only One, operates in all the universes. No action can escape from the watchful eye of Allah.
In this world, it is necessary to explain the principles laid down by Allah to the people to establish the regime of Allah. Through such campaign meetings, you can explain the framed laws of Allah to all, and make them think and act accordingly. So, it is important that those who come to this campaign meeting are capable to understand what is being said there.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَقۡرَبُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَنتُمۡ سُكَٰرَىٰ حَتَّىٰ تَعۡلَمُواْ مَا تَقُولُونَ
4:43. O Followers of Allah’s guidance! Do not attend guidance campaign gatherings in an intoxicated state. Because you will not be able to gain wisdom about what is being said there. You just have to be more vigilant for what is being narrated there.
وَلَا جُنُبًا إِلَّا عَابِرِي سَبِيلٍ حَتَّىٰ تَغۡتَسِلُواْۚ
Those who attend such campaign meetings need to maintain cleanliness. If the husband and wife are engaged in a physical relationship, they should both attend the guidance campaign meeting only after bathing and cleaning.
وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرۡضَىٰٓ أَوۡ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ أَوۡ جَآءَ أَحَدٞ مِّنكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡغَآئِطِ
Others have to wash their face, hands, and feet and clear their heads. (See 5: 6) If the sick and passers-by do not have access to water after defecation, those attending the campaign meeting should clean it with a clean object. They can also place their hands in clean soil and clean their face and hands to attend a guidance campaign meeting. This is called the ‘Thayammum’ method. Verily Allah’s Guidance always considers for safety and mercy of everyone.
أَوۡ لَٰمَسۡتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَلَمۡ تَجِدُواْ مَآءٗ فَتَيَمَّمُواْ صَعِيدٗا طَيِّبٗا فَٱمۡسَحُواْ بِوُجُوهِكُمۡ وَأَيۡدِيكُمۡۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَفُوًّا غَفُورًا٤٣
Similarly, a husband and wife may attend a campaign meeting if they do not have access to water. At the same time, it is very important to attend the campaign meetings, as the important wisdom of Allah is narrated and taught over and over again. These offers are meant to protect you from the loss of attending a campaign meeting.
أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ نَصِيبٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ يَشۡتَرُونَ ٱلضَّلَٰلَةَ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن تَضِلُّواْ ٱلسَّبِيلَ٤٤
4:44. Do you notice how the speech and action of those who are given a portion of Scripture (Periodical Guidance texts) contradict each other. Their actions are aimed at misguidance. Not only that, they want you too to go astray.
The Qur'an, the complete Scripture (see 5:3), is narrated to guide all by quoting the Scriptural truths they have (see: 3:4 & 5).
وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِأَعۡدَآئِكُمۡۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَلِيّٗا وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ نَصِيرٗا٤٥
4:45. You are the ones who work to fulfill the plans of Allah. Allah knows best who will act against you. So, you go ahead in your action plan without fear. You will have adequate protection and assistance as per the framed laws of Allah.
مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُواْ يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلۡكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ وَيَقُولُونَ سَمِعۡنَا وَعَصَيۡنَا وَٱسۡمَعۡ غَيۡرَ مُسۡمَعٖ وَرَٰعِنَا لَيَّۢا بِأَلۡسِنَتِهِمۡ وَطَعۡنٗا فِي ٱلدِّينِۚ
4:46. Of these, the Jews are the worst-performing. They transform the Scriptures by themselves. Their speeches carry dual meanings. For example, “We heard the guidance of Allah. Instead of saying that we will certainly act on it, they use their tongues to make fun of the dual meanings such as “We heard and we will change it” and speak as if denying them. They also conditionally say, "You listen to us first and then we listen to you.
وَلَوۡ أَنَّهُمۡ قَالُواْ سَمِعۡنَا وَأَطَعۡنَا وَٱسۡمَعۡوَٱنظُرۡنَا لَكَانَ خَيۡرٗا لَّهُمۡ وَأَقۡوَمَ وَلَٰكِن لَّعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِكُفۡرِهِمۡ فَلَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا٤٦
On the contrary, it would have been better for them if they had said, “We have accepted the advice of Allah, and so we will act on it. But we seek to bring our speech also to your attention.” But their quality of speech is deteriorating and they are losing their value and respect in society. The fact is that most of them barring a few do not accept the guidance.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ ءَامِنُواْ بِمَا نَزَّلۡنَا مُصَدِّقٗا لِّمَا مَعَكُم
4:47. O follower of Previous Revelations! This Scripture is given to put into practice what is said in the Scriptures that you have. Accept this wholeheartedly and come forward to perform. Otherwise, its consequences will have to be met. That is, Things that are mentioned in your Scriptures: The truth will remain, the wicked will perish, and everything in this world will function according to the plan of Allah.” This Scripture too is given to make it true.
مِّن قَبۡلِ أَن نَّطۡمِسَ وُجُوهٗا فَنَرُدَّهَا عَلَىٰٓ أَدۡبَارِهَآ أَوۡ نَلۡعَنَهُمۡ كَمَا لَعَنَّآ أَصۡحَٰبَ ٱلسَّبۡتِۚ وَكَانَ أَمۡرُ ٱللَّهِ مَفۡعُولًا٤٧
Before your situation worsens, think about it and accept it. In the end, the same fate befell your forefathers as in the case of ‘As habus Sabth’. History has it that they lost all the blessings of Allah and were humiliated like monkeys and pigs and forced to live in bondage. (See 7:166 & 167) This is not just a threat. These are announcements from Allah. This will continue to happen.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَغۡفِرُ أَن يُشۡرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغۡفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُۚ وَمَن يُشۡرِكۡ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰٓ إِثۡمًا عَظِيمًا٤٨
4:48. Remember! You can recover from the damage caused by small mistakes. But if one follows other means equating with the guidance of Allah, it is equal to negating. Such people will never have a secure life in the world. There can be any relief from the damage caused by small mistakes, but societies that adopt other than the guidance of Allah will lose strength and face destruction.
أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يُزَكُّونَ أَنفُسَهُمۚ بَلِ ٱللَّهُ يُزَكِّي مَن يَشَآءُ وَلَا يُظۡلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا٤٩
4:49. So have you noticed the mental state of those who follow self-designed spiritual methods? They claim that humanity grows with the spiritual methods they follow. But the principles that are necessary for the development of human dignity are bestowed in this scripture. Only by following this can human morality and dignity be developed. Only those who strive to grow humanity will surely reap its benefits. This will not be underestimated in the slightest.
ٱنظُرۡ كَيۡفَ يَفۡتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَۖ وَكَفَىٰ بِهِۦٓ إِثۡمٗا مُّبِينًا٥٠
4:50. But notice that these people have created some methods in the name of "worship" and are pretending that Allah has created it. What a blatant lie this is. Thus, no harm will come to Allah. But these are the factors that will lead to their destruction.
أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ نَصِيبٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡجِبۡتِ وَٱلطَّٰغُوتِ وَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ أَهۡدَىٰ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ سَبِيلًا٥١
4:51. Have you not noticed the actions of those who received a portion of scripture.? They are involved in rituals that do not bring any benefit. They have taken others as their deities and accepted the Shariah laws established by the clergy and arbitrary leaders. The funny thing is that they say that they are better than those who accept this Quran and that they are on the right path.
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۖ وَمَن يَلۡعَنِ ٱللَّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ نَصِيرًا٥٢
4:52. These are the ones who are deprived of the blessings of Allah. Who else can help such communities that ignore the guidance of Allah and lose His blessings?
That is to say, those who do not do any research works say that everything that happens is according to the will of Allah. They are the ones who lose His blessings.
أَمۡ لَهُمۡ نَصِيبٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡمُلۡكِ فَإِذٗا لَّا يُؤۡتُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ نَقِيرًا٥٣
4:53. Fortunately, such people have no ruling power. If that were the case, they would not have spent anything from their accumulated wealth for national development.
أَمۡ يَحۡسُدُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ عَلَىٰ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦۖ فَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَآ ءَالَ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُم مُّلۡكًا عَظِيمٗا٥٤
4:54. The fact is that they are jealous of you, for being blessed with the guidance of Allah. Do you think that these blessings are available to a particular community? It was available to Ibrahim and his descendants who accepted and followed the guidance of Allah. In addition, they were given the teachings of the Scriptures and their wisdom. At the same time, they got great ruling power also.
فَمِنۡهُم مَّنۡ ءَامَنَ بِهِۦ وَمِنۡهُم مَّن صَدَّ عَنۡهُۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِجَهَنَّمَ سَعِيرًا٥٥
4:55. Some of the descendants who came after him performed according to Allah’s guidance and lived better lives. There were some who, over time, abandoned them and sought destruction. The disgrace and suffering that befell them are testaments to that.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بَِٔايَٰتِنَا سَوۡفَ نُصۡلِيهِمۡ نَارٗا كُلَّمَا نَضِجَتۡ جُلُودُهُم بَدَّلۡنَٰهُمۡ جُلُودًا غَيۡرَهَا لِيَذُوقُواْ ٱلۡعَذَابَۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمٗا٥٦
4:56. Surely those who oppose Our guidance will face failure and the torments of hell. Then they will lose their power. Once again, they will equip themselves with defeat and crumble again when they clash with Our regime which is running honestly. Thus, they may taste failures and pain when they collide repeatedly. This is because the law of "consequences for human action" prescribed by Allah has always been applicable and consistent to people in all parts of the world.
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ سَنُدۡخِلُهُمۡ جَنَّٰتٖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدٗاۖ لَّهُمۡ فِيهَآ أَزۡوَٰجٞ مُّطَهَّرَةٞۖ وَنُدۡخِلُهُمۡ ظِلّٗا ظَلِيلًا٥٧
4:57. On the contrary, the community of those who accept the guidance of Allah and devise action plans to form a superior society accordingly will become Heavenly. The economy of the country in which they live will be growing like a perennial river. Not only that, but pure-hearted comrades will come and join this. (See 110:1-2) They will have a prosperous life with the grace of Allah and peace of mind.
۞إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأۡمُرُكُمۡ أَن تُؤَدُّواْ ٱلۡأَمَٰنَٰتِ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهَا وَإِذَا حَكَمۡتُم بَيۡنَ ٱلنَّاسِ أَن تَحۡكُمُواْ بِٱلۡعَدۡلِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ نِعِمَّا يَعِظُكُم بِهِۦٓۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ سَمِيعَۢا بَصِيرٗا٥٨
4:58. Thus, the country where they live will become like a paradise. Its management responsibility should be handed over to those who are qualified to lead it. This is the command of Allah. Secondly, when judging the problems of the people, one should give a fair judgment according to the Pre-Directed Laws of Allah. That verdict should be made available to the public as soon as possible after a serious investigation. These are the advice of Allah, which should always be maintained. Do not forget that your every action can never escape the watchful eye of Allah.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَطِيعُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَأُوْلِي ٱلۡأَمۡرِ مِنكُمۡۖ
4:59. O Followers of guidance of Allah! You should follow only the guidance of Allah. It is also necessary to abide by the constitutional laws created by the Reformist on its basis. Not only that but you also cooperate with the authorities operating under this regime.
فَإِن تَنَٰزَعۡتُمۡ فِي شَيۡءٖ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَٱلرَّسُولِ إِن كُنتُمۡ تُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيۡرٞ وَأَحۡسَنُ تَأۡوِيلًا٥٩
If you probably do not agree with the decision taken by the authorities, appeal to the higher authorities of the regime. There will be a fair solution according to the laws of Allah (see 42:10) This is how you will help to create a better society. This is also the true meaning of having accepted the guidance of Allah and also the law of “Cause & Effect” prescribed by Him.
And the decision of the high-level panel will be final. This cannot be appealed. Its verdict will be final. Because the judgment they make will be based on the guidance of Allah. (Ref. 3:32) Therefore, those who have accepted the guidance of Allah, do not have any right to criticize the judgments. (See 4:65, 33:36)
أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَزۡعُمُونَ أَنَّهُمۡ ءَامَنُواْ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيۡكَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبۡلِكَ
4:60. These are the virtues of those who have accepted the Guidance. Instead, look at the actions of those who argue that they accept the Quran and the scripture that preceded it.
يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَتَحَاكَمُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱلطَّٰغُوتِ وَقَدۡ أُمِرُوٓاْ أَن يَكۡفُرُواْ بِهِۦۖ وَيُرِيدُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ أَن يُضِلَّهُمۡ ضَلَٰلَۢا بَعِيدٗا٦٠
But they want judgments to be given as per the Shariah laws which they have created in their favor. They have been commanded not to make judgments against the laws of Allah, but they want to live according to their desires instead of the commandments of Allah. By doing so, all of them go astray! Don’t they realize it?
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمۡ تَعَالَوۡاْ إِلَىٰ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ رَأَيۡتَ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَنكَ صُدُودٗا٦١
4:61. When they are told to accept the principles of Allah and the constitutional laws framed by the Reformists to implement them, the hypocrites seek to stay away from these. O Reformists! You see this too. They create obstacles by not wanting to come to you to solve their problems. Isn’t it unfair?
فَكَيۡفَ إِذَآ أَصَٰبَتۡهُم مُّصِيبَةُۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ أَيۡدِيهِمۡ ثُمَّ جَآءُوكَ يَحۡلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ إِنۡ أَرَدۡنَآ إِلَّآ إِحۡسَٰنٗا وَتَوۡفِيقًا٦٢
4:62. How bad it would be, if the evil impacts caused by their misdeeds here before befall on them? But they, taking Allah as a witness, claim themselves as none but social workers and work only for the unity of the country.
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَعۡلَمُ ٱللَّهُ مَا فِي قُلُوبِهِمۡ فَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنۡهُمۡ وَعِظۡهُمۡ وَقُل لَّهُمۡ فِيٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ قَوۡلَۢا بَلِيغٗا٦٣
4:63. But Allah is fully aware of what is in their hearts and what is on their lips. (See - 63: 1) So it is better to stay away from such hypocrites. However, please continue to preach the merits of Allah's guidance and the benefits of following it. Reforms cannot be brought about unless the people change their attitudes. So, make it clear that Allah's guidance is to be borne in mind forever.
وَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا لِيُطَاعَ بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ
4:64. Before this, every Reformist had guided and reformed the people only under the guidance of Allah. So, following the Reformist is like following Allah.
وَلَوۡ أَنَّهُمۡ إِذ ظَّلَمُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمۡ جَآءُوكَ فَٱسۡتَغۡفَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱسۡتَغۡفَرَ لَهُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُواْ ٱللَّهَ تَوَّابٗا رَّحِيمٗا٦٤
So, if a person had come to you and asked for the remedial measures to be taken to get rid of the trouble he is facing due to his misdeeds, you would have suggested the ways to get relief from its effects according to the guidance. The reason is that there are ways in the guidance of Allah to hasten the solutions to the problem and act accordingly. Is this not the great grace of Allah?
If a person knowingly or unknowingly commits sinful acts, its effects will not go unnoticed. If he sits in a corner of the house, chanting a few words to get an apology, and thinks that all the sins he has committed will be forgiven, it is his ignorance. The effects of the sins he committed in his life will never go away. The remedial measures to come out of the evil impacts according to the law of Allah are: caring for the welfare of the victims of your evil deeds and doing creative good deeds accordingly. Then the weight of goodness will be exceeded and the burden of sin on him will be reduced. The ways to a safer life will be achieved. (See - 25:70)
فَلَا وَرَبِّكَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ حَتَّىٰ يُحَكِّمُوكَ فِيمَا شَجَرَ بَيۡنَهُمۡ ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُواْ فِيٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ حَرَجٗا مِّمَّا قَضَيۡتَ وَيُسَلِّمُواْ تَسۡلِيمٗا٦٥
4:65. Therefore, unless the people accept you as the judge and leader who leads the society to solve the strife that arises among the people, they would not be recognized by Allah as true followers. Moreover, since he judges according to the law of Allah, no one would be dissatisfied with that judgment. You would accept those judgments heartily. (See - 33:36 & 24:63) You will not be considered to be a true follower unless you accept the above principles.
وَلَوۡ أَنَّا كَتَبۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ أَنِ ٱقۡتُلُوٓاْ أَنفُسَكُمۡ أَوِ ٱخۡرُجُواْ مِن دِيَٰرِكُم مَّا فَعَلُوهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلٞ مِّنۡهُمۡۖ وَلَوۡ أَنَّهُمۡ فَعَلُواْ مَا يُوعَظُونَ بِهِۦ لَكَانَ خَيۡرٗا لَّهُمۡ وَأَشَدَّ تَثۡبِيتٗا٦٦
4:66. And while they are asked to dedicate themselves to the social system which is created for the betterment of mankind and are commanded to leave their homes and engage in public life, except a few, most of them do not show a positive response. That is, very few respond to obey the command of Allah. They will get many benefits if they act according to the advice of Allah. Therefore, determination and speed of action are essential to participating in the welfare of society.
وَإِذٗا لَّأٓتَيۡنَٰهُم مِّن لَّدُنَّآ أَجۡرًا عَظِيمٗا٦٧
4:67. If they are engaged in social service under the guidance of Allah, they will continue to reap many benefits according to the rules of “Benefits of human action”.
وَلَهَدَيۡنَٰهُمۡ صِرَٰطٗا مُّسۡتَقِيمٗا٦٨
4:68. Apart from that, the experience they gain from social services, Allah will take them on the right path to achieve social harmony.
وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ مَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنۡعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡهِم مِّنَ ٱلنَّبِيِّۧنَ وَٱلصِّدِّيقِينَ وَٱلشُّهَدَآءِ وَٱلصَّٰلِحِينَۚ وَحَسُنَ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ رَفِيقٗا٦٩
4:69. These are the people who are blessed by Allah. That is, the Prophets who performed perfectly under the guidance of Allah, the Siddiqeen who strived to bring His schemes to come true, the Shuhada who devoted their lives to the smooth functioning of government based on it, and the Saliheens who worked day and night for the betterment of the community, will all occupy a permanent place in the history of the world with the blessings of Allah. So, those who follow the guidance of Allah and the by-laws that are based on it, all of them will be included in the list of ‘Great Men’ who have received the blessings of Allah mentioned above. If anyone gets this privilege, can there be better happiness than this?
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡفَضۡلُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ عَلِيمٗا٧٠
4:70. These are the people who deserve to get Favors from Allah. These are not mere words. It is the promise of Allah, the All-Wise. This will be enough for anyone.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ خُذُواْ حِذۡرَكُمۡ فَٱنفِرُواْ ثُبَاتٍ أَوِ ٱنفِرُواْ جَمِيعٗا٧١
4:71. O Followers of Allah’s guidance! Precautions and security measures are necessary to uphold the rule of Allah. For this, you need to keep all the security tactics and training in order. Be prepared to enter the battlefield, if required as battalions in groups or all together as per the situation.
وَإِنَّ مِنكُمۡ لَمَن لَّيُبَطِّئَنَّ فَإِنۡ أَصَٰبَتۡكُم مُّصِيبَةٞ قَالَ قَدۡ أَنۡعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيَّ إِذۡ لَمۡ أَكُن مَّعَهُمۡ شَهِيدٗا٧٢
4:72. The reason for this is that some of you may be reluctant to enter the war field. They will give some reason or the other for lagging. Thus, it can affect others. And in case of any tragedy in the war, they will say, “It is a grace of Allah that we did not participate in the war with them.”
وَلَئِنۡ أَصَٰبَكُمۡ فَضۡلٞ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ لَيَقُولَنَّ كَأَن لَّمۡ تَكُنۢ بَيۡنَكُمۡ وَبَيۡنَهُۥ مَوَدَّةٞ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي كُنتُ مَعَهُمۡ فَأَفُوزَ فَوۡزًا عَظِيمٗا٧٣
4:73. At the same time, if by the grace of Allah victory is achieved, they will say “It would have been better if we had participated in it and we too would have been very happy with that victory.” They will talk like this as if there is no relationship at all with you.
۞فَلۡيُقَٰتِلۡ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشۡرُونَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۚ وَمَن يُقَٰتِلۡ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَيُقۡتَلۡ أَوۡ يَغۡلِبۡ فَسَوۡفَ نُؤۡتِيهِ أَجۡرًا عَظِيمٗا٧٤
4:74. The fact is that they give priority to the temporary well-being of life, instead of long-term happiness. But those who have followed Allah’s guidance will dedicate their lives to the cause of Allah’s regime. There are two types of benefits. If they win the war, they will have a better life in this world. Perhaps if they lose their life in the war, the reward for it is definite from Allah.
وَمَا لَكُمۡ لَا تُقَٰتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡمُسۡتَضۡعَفِينَ مِنَ ٱلرِّجَالِ وَٱلنِّسَآءِ وَٱلۡوِلۡدَٰنِ
4:75. While the situation is so grave, why should not the soldiers set out to fight against the wrongdoers in the way of Allah? War is only an ultimate means to put an end to injustice and wickedness in the world (see 22:39).
ٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ أَخۡرِجۡنَا مِنۡ هَٰذِهِ ٱلۡقَرۡيَةِ ٱلظَّالِمِ أَهۡلُهَا وَٱجۡعَل لَّنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ وَلِيّٗا وَٱجۡعَل لَّنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ نَصِيرًا٧٥
The condition of the people of Makkah who have accepted the guidance of Allah is very bad. Elders and children who are unable to leave their homes are very much persecuted by the perpetrators. Thus, they are praying to Allah to save them. “O Our Caretaker! Help us to get out of this town of criminals. May You provide us with a protector. Send a helper from You.”
Usually, no one would like war. The reason is that it causes loss of life and property. But it is important to note who is fighting against whom and for what. It is a man who must take action to save those in distress in the world. From this passage, we learn that the help from Allah does not come directly, but only through the helpers according to the law which He has framed. (See also 2: 251)
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۖ
4:76. So a section of people is fighting to eradicate injustice and atrocities in the world. This means that they are fighting in the way of Allah.
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱلطَّٰغُوتِ
Another faction will fight to maintain the authoritarian regime and the repressive regime that is taking place there. These are called the forces of the selfish ruler.
فَقَٰتِلُوٓاْ أَوۡلِيَآءَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِۖ إِنَّ كَيۡدَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ كَانَ ضَعِيفًا٧٦
O followers of Allah’s guidance! You shall always fight in the way of Allah. Prepare yourself by taking all safety measures and war tactics. Your enemies would be having various weaknesses. Thus, they can’t win you over.
أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ قِيلَ لَهُمۡ كُفُّوٓاْ أَيۡدِيَكُمۡ وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
4:77. Under the guidance of Allah, in the initial stage, you were advised to create a committee and spend for community development projects. There was no necessity for the war then.
فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡقِتَالُ إِذَا فَرِيقٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ يَخۡشَوۡنَ ٱلنَّاسَ كَخَشۡيَةِ ٱللَّهِ أَوۡ أَشَدَّ خَشۡيَةٗۚ
But did you notice their condition now when they are asked to come forward to participate in war? Some of them fear about the people as much as they fear Allah and say, “Our Nourisher! Why have you declared war so early? Shouldn't it have been adjourned a little later for us?”
وَقَالُواْ رَبَّنَا لِمَ كَتَبۡتَ عَلَيۡنَا ٱلۡقِتَالَ لَوۡلَآ أَخَّرۡتَنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ قَرِيبٖۗ قُلۡ مَتَٰعُ ٱلدُّنۡيَا قَلِيلٞ وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةُ خَيۡرٞ لِّمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰ وَلَا تُظۡلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا٧٧
Tell them, “Accept Allah's command for your long-term benefits that will be available in the future, and that it is for their good to sacrifice temporary worldly pleasures. There will never be an atom of injustice to you.”
أَيۡنَمَا تَكُونُواْ يُدۡرِككُّمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ وَلَوۡ كُنتُمۡ فِي بُرُوجٖ مُّشَيَّدَةٖۗ
4:78. What remains to be noted now is the fear of death on the battlefield. Is there anyone who can avoid death? One Day or the other death will occur on everyone, where ever you are. Even if you are in a strong fortress, death will reach you.
Isn't it better to live for one day as a ‘great performer’ than to live like a coward for decades? The truth is that man gets a lasting life only by dedicating his life to a higher ideal.
وَإِن تُصِبۡهُمۡ حَسَنَةٞ يَقُولُواْ هَٰذِهِۦ مِنۡ عِندِ ٱللَّهِۖ وَإِن تُصِبۡهُمۡ سَيِّئَةٞ يَقُولُواْ هَٰذِهِۦ مِنۡ عِندِكَۚ
Do you know about their present trend now? When a favorable situation arises for them, they say, “What is the role of the Reformist in this? Everything has been bestowed by Allah.” If any misfortune befalls them, they immediately blame that it is due to the misguidance of the Reformists. That is not true.
قُلۡ كُلّٞ مِّنۡ عِندِ ٱللَّهِۖ فَمَالِ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ لَا يَكَادُونَ يَفۡقَهُونَ حَدِيثٗا٧٨
The consequences are in line with human actions. There are rewards for good deeds. Evil consequences for wrongdoing. So, both of these laws have been established by Allah. (Kullum min inthallah) What has happened to these people? They could not even understand this simple law.
If you do anything following the guidance of Allah, it will bring good results. If you do anything according to your own will, you will have to face its repercussions.
مَّآ أَصَابَكَ مِنۡ حَسَنَةٖ فَمِنَ ٱللَّهِۖ وَمَآ أَصَابَكَ مِن سَيِّئَةٖ فَمِن نَّفۡسِكَۚ وَأَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ لِلنَّاسِ رَسُولٗاۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدٗا٧٩
4:79. So, all the misery that comes to you is what you attained with your activities. (See 42:30) No unjust things come from Allah. (See - 4:40). The Reformist who came before you also explained to his people the law of “consequences according to human deeds” prescribed by Allah (See 7:131). He also performed his duties according to the guidance of Allah. (See 6:106) So the law of Allah bears witness that there is no room for error on His part.
مَّن يُطِعِ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَقَدۡ أَطَاعَ ٱللَّهَۖ وَمَن تَوَلَّىٰ فَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَفِيظٗا٨٠
4:80. So, it is declared that whoever follows the guidance of the Reformist is equal to one who follows Allah. Whoever acts as a substitute for this is responsible for the aftermath. O, Reformist! We did not send you as in-charge of their activities.
وَيَقُولُونَ طَاعَةٞ فَإِذَا بَرَزُواْ مِنۡ عِندِكَ بَيَّتَ طَآئِفَةٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ غَيۡرَ ٱلَّذِي تَقُولُۖ
4:81. O, Reformist! Some of those who claim to follow you, are plotting against you when they leave you. They spend their nights in it.
وَٱللَّهُ يَكۡتُبُ مَا يُبَيِّتُونَۖ فَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنۡهُمۡ وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱللَّهِۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلًا٨١
Everything they do is being recorded. Do not be serious about their conspiracy theories. You pay full attention to the plans of Allah. The security arrangements made by you as per His Guidance are sufficient to thwart their conspiracy theories.
Thus, examine their activities a little. Unstable speeches, time-to-time changes in their action plans, and inconsistencies in their behaviors are found. This is how their mindset works. There are many conflicting ideas and activities in society. They have no solutions for them.
أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَۚ وَلَوۡ كَانَ مِنۡ عِندِ غَيۡرِ ٱللَّهِ لَوَجَدُواْ فِيهِ ٱخۡتِلَٰفٗا كَثِيرٗا٨٢
4:82. But that is not the case with Al Quran. If you pay attention to it, you will not find conflicting opinions anywhere. The principles and policies from beginning to end are unique. But they are described from various angles. This is proof that the guidance has come from Allah. Had it come from someone other than Allah, there would have been numerous contradictions in it.
This shows that there are no contradictions in the Arabic text, the original language of the Quran. But we see that there are a lot of contradictions in the translations.
وَإِذَا جَآءَهُمۡ أَمۡرٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَمۡنِ أَوِ ٱلۡخَوۡفِ أَذَاعُواْ بِهِۦۖ وَلَوۡ رَدُّوهُ إِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ وَإِلَىٰٓ أُوْلِي ٱلۡأَمۡرِ مِنۡهُمۡ لَعَلِمَهُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَسۡتَنۢبِطُونَهُۥ مِنۡهُمۡۗ
4:83. And when hypocrites receive the good news of peace or warnings to protect themselves from danger, they immediately spread rumors to confuse people. This causes problems in taking appropriate action. Therefore, if such news is duly explained and reported to the concerned authorities, such confusion can be prevented. They have that knowledge.
وَلَوۡلَا فَضۡلُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَرَحۡمَتُهُۥ لَٱتَّبَعۡتُمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنَ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا٨٣
So, if there had been no grace of “the guidance of Allah”, many of you would have immediately acted on such hoaxes (devils). Instead of solving problems, it would have become more complicated.
The general public does not know how to approach any problem. So, the law and order will deteriorate. Those who act in this way would face unintended consequences. For this, people should not believe the hoaxes but should act after thorough investigations and finding out the facts. (See 25:73)
فَقَٰتِلۡ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ لَا تُكَلَّفُ إِلَّا نَفۡسَكَ
4:84. O Reformist! Focus on strengthening this system of government established in the public interest and training security personnel to run it. You cannot force others to do this.
وَحَرِّضِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَۖ عَسَى ٱللَّهُ أَن يَكُفَّ بَأۡسَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْۚ وَٱللَّهُ أَشَدُّ بَأۡسٗا وَأَشَدُّ تَنكِيلٗا٨٤
However, train your fellow men properly with weapons and war tactics, remove their shortcomings and encourage them to develop their abilities. All of these will help to suppress the strength of the enemy. Thus, Allah's plan of action is very strong and severe in punishing the guilty.
مَّن يَشۡفَعۡ شَفَٰعَةً حَسَنَةٗ يَكُن لَّهُۥ نَصِيبٞ مِّنۡهَاۖ وَمَن يَشۡفَعۡ شَفَٰعَةٗ سَيِّئَةٗ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كِفۡلٞ مِّنۡهَاۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ مُّقِيتٗا٨٥
4:85. Thus, carry on with your programs along with your fellow members who depend on you. If someone recommends and helps for creative good deeds, he also shares in its benefits. Similarly, if he turns to the side of evil deeds, he also has a share in it. These will be the law of the state, directed by Allah Who has the power to know and to observe all things.
That is, those who advise doing good deeds will get help and praise on behalf of the government. Those who incite to do evil will be punished accordingly. So, you have to find out the men behind the evil forces and identify them as well. Not only that but the rewards and punishments from Allah will be available after death according to one’s deeds.
وَإِذَا حُيِّيتُم بِتَحِيَّةٖ فَحَيُّواْ بِأَحۡسَنَ مِنۡهَآ أَوۡ رُدُّوهَآۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٍ حَسِيبًا٨٦
4:86. If they co-operate with you in your plans and act in the best interest and security of the state, then make the best of their living facilities in return. At least whatever is possible by you. Let all know that this system of government of Allah approaches everyone equally in all matters.
ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۚ لَيَجۡمَعَنَّكُمۡ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ لَا رَيۡبَ فِيهِۗ وَمَنۡ أَصۡدَقُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ حَدِيثٗا٨٧
4:87. If the public participates in your agenda or ignores it, explain to them, “A Day will come when everyone may have to obey only His commands and act in His right way. Also, remember that a Day will come when all people will come together as per His guidance and there is no doubt about it.” Who else can prove the truth of this word of Allah?
۞فَمَا لَكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ فِئَتَيۡنِ وَٱللَّهُ أَرۡكَسَهُم بِمَا كَسَبُوٓاْۚ
4:88. Some of you are hypocrites who look good in appearance and have evil tendencies on the other side. Some of you have a good opinion without knowing about them.
أَتُرِيدُونَ أَن تَهۡدُواْ مَنۡ أَضَلَّ ٱللَّهُۖ وَمَن يُضۡلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ سَبِيلٗا٨٨
Do you want to guide those who have orally accepted the guidance of Allah and act against it? You cannot bring those in the right path whom you want, but only those who can seek guidance will get the right directions in life. (See 18:29) This is the framed law of Allah. So, you will not be able to get them on the right path unless they voluntarily accept the guidance of Allah.
وَدُّواْ لَوۡ تَكۡفُرُونَ كَمَا كَفَرُواْ فَتَكُونُونَ سَوَآءٗۖ فَلَا تَتَّخِذُواْ مِنۡهُمۡ أَوۡلِيَآءَ حَتَّىٰ يُهَاجِرُواْ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۚ
4:89. You want those hypocrites to be guided to come and join you. But they want you all to leave the right path and join them. Do not take them as best friends until it is clear that their activities are as per the guidance of Allah. They, like you, should be prepared to take part in the reformatory programs in the way of Allah and to engage in public life.
فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡاْ فَخُذُوهُمۡ وَٱقۡتُلُوهُمۡ حَيۡثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمۡۖ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُواْ مِنۡهُمۡ وَلِيّٗا وَلَا نَصِيرًا٨٩
If they engage in anti-social activities secretly, the Regime will arrest, imprison them and take action. Because terrorists are more likely to cause riots at home than aliens. (See - 2:191) So do not leave them alive if they fight against you. Or kill on the spot if such enemies try to flee. Do not discriminate against anyone in this matter.
But these are steps to be taken by the government. There is no place in any law for such action to be taken personally or individually.
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ يَصِلُونَ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِۢ بَيۡنَكُمۡ وَبَيۡنَهُم مِّيثَٰقٌ أَوۡ جَآءُوكُمۡ حَصِرَتۡ صُدُورُهُمۡ أَن يُقَٰتِلُوكُمۡ أَوۡ يُقَٰتِلُواْ قَوۡمَهُمۡۚ وَلَوۡ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَسَلَّطَهُمۡ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فَلَقَٰتَلُوكُمۡۚ
4:90. But if the opponents take refuge with those with whom you have made a ceasefire agreement, then do not go there and take any action against them. And do not kill those who come to you for surrender. If the purpose of the war was to take lives, they would have no choice but to fight with you.
فَإِنِ ٱعۡتَزَلُوكُمۡ فَلَمۡ يُقَٰتِلُوكُمۡ وَأَلۡقَوۡاْ إِلَيۡكُمُ ٱلسَّلَمَ فَمَا جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ سَبِيلٗا٩٠
Since the conflict is between two different concepts, if they offer for peace talk with you, make peace terms. So, it is not right to wage war against those who come to talk for peace like that. Allah has not given you such guidance.
سَتَجِدُونَ ءَاخَرِينَ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَأۡمَنُوكُمۡ وَيَأۡمَنُواْ قَوۡمَهُمۡ كُلَّ مَا رُدُّوٓاْ إِلَى ٱلۡفِتۡنَةِ أُرۡكِسُواْ فِيهَاۚ فَإِن لَّمۡ يَعۡتَزِلُوكُمۡ وَيُلۡقُوٓاْ إِلَيۡكُمُ ٱلسَّلَمَ وَيَكُفُّوٓاْ أَيۡدِيَهُمۡ
4:91. At the same time, carefully watch those who have surrendered to you. Because they might have come to support their community by pretending to surrender to you. After that, they will wait for the moment to join hands with the miscreants to conspire against you. Such people will accept your principles orally, but do not want to live in peace with you.
فَخُذُوهُمۡ وَٱقۡتُلُوهُمۡ حَيۡثُ ثَقِفۡتُمُوهُمۡۚ وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكُمۡ جَعَلۡنَا لَكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ سُلۡطَٰنٗا مُّبِينٗا٩١
Allowing such people in society will spoil social harmony. So, you cannot continue with your development process. So, chase them and put them in custody. Kill him if anyone tries to escape. If they are prepared to fight with you, retaliate accordingly. So, these are the clear explanations given by Allah for safety measures.
وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤۡمِنٍ أَن يَقۡتُلَ مُؤۡمِنًا إِلَّا خَطَٔٗاۚ وَمَن قَتَلَ مُؤۡمِنًا خَطَٔٗا فَتَحۡرِيرُ رَقَبَةٖ مُّؤۡمِنَةٖ وَدِيَةٞ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَصَّدَّقُواْۚ فَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوۡمٍ عَدُوّٖ لَّكُمۡ وَهُوَ مُؤۡمِنٞ فَتَحۡرِيرُ رَقَبَةٖ مُّؤۡمِنَةٖۖ
4:92. At the same time, necessary Laws must be passed to ensure that no untoward incidence like murder takes place among the citizens. But in case of unforeseen murder, it is permissible in law to impose penalty. That is, the culprit must free one slave. Compensation shall be paid to the family of the victim. (see 2:178). If the murder has taken place out of negligence, the family of the victim may waive the penalty.
وَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوۡمِۢ بَيۡنَكُمۡ وَبَيۡنَهُم مِّيثَٰقٞ فَدِيَةٞ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ وَتَحۡرِيرُ رَقَبَةٖ مُّؤۡمِنَةٖۖ فَمَن لَّمۡ يَجِدۡ فَصِيَامُ شَهۡرَيۡنِ مُتَتَابِعَيۡنِ تَوۡبَةٗ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمٗا٩٢
If the murdered person belongs to a hostile race, it is enough for the culprit to release a slave as compensation. But if a person under the ceasefire agreement is proven to have been killed, the culprit must pay compensation to the heirs of the deceased and free a slave. Thus, if he does not have the facility to compensate, he must fast for 60 days continuously*. It is a word from Allah, the Almighty, the Wise.
In many parts of the world at that time, it was the custom of the rich to buy and enslave man. This practice came from the zamindars even before the independence in India. So, the order to free the slave was a punishment that would inflict heavy losses on them. But such commands seem to have been issued by Allah to gradually eradicate slavery.
The government will also imprison the offender who is unable to pay compensation and make him observe fast for 60 days. Attempts will then be made to correct the culprits.
وَمَن يَقۡتُلۡ مُؤۡمِنٗا مُّتَعَمِّدٗا فَجَزَآؤُهُۥ جَهَنَّمُ خَٰلِدٗا فِيهَا وَغَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡهِ وَلَعَنَهُۥ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُۥ عَذَابًا عَظِيمٗا٩٣
4:93. If someone deliberately kills a government official who serves for the benefit of society, he will be sentenced to death. (Ref: 5:32). He will have to suffer the torments of hell in the life that follows death. Because as per the law of Allah he is a deadly sinner. So, he will not be given any privilege. He will suffer severe punishments. So, there is no room for any talk of compensation for intentional murder.
O, Social Activists, who strive for world peace! Whatever action you take, you need to plan and act accordingly. You must not turn a blind eye to world affairs, especially war.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا ضَرَبۡتُمۡ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَتَبَيَّنُواْ وَلَا تَقُولُواْ لِمَنۡ أَلۡقَىٰٓ إِلَيۡكُمُ ٱلسَّلَٰمَ لَسۡتَ مُؤۡمِنٗا
4:94. So, you have to be fully prepared and equipped yourselves before entering into warfare. You have to fight only after you know the real opponents and also about their strengths. When the message of peace comes from the other side, it is not correct to fight with them, saying, “You are not believers.”
تَبۡتَغُونَ عَرَضَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا فَعِندَ ٱللَّهِ مَغَانِمُ كَثِيرَةٞۚ كَذَٰلِكَ كُنتُم مِّن قَبۡلُ فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فَتَبَيَّنُوٓاْۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِيرٗا٩٤
Prior to Allah’s guidance, some of the warriors used to fight for meager gains such as ammunitions and other wealth from the defeated community. But now you have the guidance of Allah. And many more livelihoods will be available from Allah. So, find out which mob is engaging in anti-people activities and take action to thwart it. (See 8:42) So do not forget that Allah knows best what you do.
لَّا يَسۡتَوِي ٱلۡقَٰعِدُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ غَيۡرُ أُوْلِي ٱلضَّرَرِ وَٱلۡمُجَٰهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ بِأَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ وَأَنفُسِهِمۡۚ
4:95. And there may be two types of citizens. One group is the social activists who work tirelessly day or night in promoting social welfare in the way of Allah. They will risk their wealth and lives to fulfill Allah’s plans - they are one type. On the other side, there will be people who lead a normal life in the country as per the guidance of Allah. These two are not equal.
فَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُجَٰهِدِينَ بِأَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ وَأَنفُسِهِمۡ عَلَى ٱلۡقَٰعِدِينَ دَرَجَةٗۚ وَكُلّٗا وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰۚ وَفَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُجَٰهِدِينَ عَلَى ٱلۡقَٰعِدِينَ أَجۡرًا عَظِيمٗا٩٥
Thus. those who work tirelessly in the way of Allah will get a high rank, status, and respect. This does not mean, however, that nothing is available for the share of normal citizens. Their cooperation and financial assistance also are required to carry out these projects. They too will receive the support and warmth of the state. But when it comes to rank, it's more available to those activists than it is to normal citizens.
دَرَجَٰتٖ مِّنۡهُ وَمَغۡفِرَةٗ وَرَحۡمَةٗۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورٗا رَّحِيمًا٩٦
4:96. So, these are the legal definitions set by Allah for attaining high ranks and status. (See also - 84:19) And thus the small mistakes made by those who carry out the action plans of Allah’s rule do not cause great harm. And their powers and deeds grow according to the decree of Allah. Thus, the means of protection and all means for the betterment of society are prescribed in the law of Allah.
These are the rules of law for those who act in the way of Allah and those who support it. What exists now is about those who live without making any effort to fulfill the plans of Allah.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَفَّىٰهُمُ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ ظَالِمِيٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ قَالُواْ فِيمَ كُنتُمۡۖ قَالُواْ كُنَّا مُسۡتَضۡعَفِينَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ
4:97. When death approaches those who have lived for themselves throughout their lives and engaged in unjust acts, a question will arise before them about their lifetime achievements. They will say, “We never had the strength to stop the injustices in the world. We were very weak.”
قَالُوٓاْ أَلَمۡ تَكُنۡ أَرۡضُ ٱللَّهِ وَٰسِعَةٗ فَتُهَاجِرُواْ فِيهَاۚ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ مَأۡوَىٰهُمۡ جَهَنَّمُۖ وَسَآءَتۡ مَصِيرًا٩٧
To this reply, a question will arise, “Was not the earth of Allah vast? (See also 29:56) You could have migrated to places that are favorable to you to fulfill the welfare plans of Allah. Why not?” So, the destination of such people who lead a luxurious life without fulfilling Allah's welfare plans will be hell. Is it good to be pushed into a position like this?
إِلَّا ٱلۡمُسۡتَضۡعَفِينَ مِنَ ٱلرِّجَالِ وَٱلنِّسَآءِ وَٱلۡوِلۡدَٰنِ لَا يَسۡتَطِيعُونَ حِيلَةٗ وَلَا يَهۡتَدُونَ سَبِيلٗا٩٨
4:98. However, the things related to little kids and the aged males and females among you are different. Such people cannot engage in any hard work. Thus, the means of going outside for public service may not be known to them. So, there won’t be any questions for them.
فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ عَسَى ٱللَّهُ أَن يَعۡفُوَ عَنۡهُمۡۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَفُوًّا غَفُورٗا٩٩
4:99. Such people are exempt from traveling to distant places. Because their going and not going will not bring any change. That is why such people are given exceptional protection in the law of Allah.
It is natural for everyone to have attachments to their homeland, hometown, and mother tongue. However, when it comes to ambition and policy, he should think about the lasting benefits and work accordingly. Should the emphasis be on affection or ambition?
۞وَمَن يُهَاجِرۡ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ يَجِدۡ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُرَٰغَمٗا كَثِيرٗا وَسَعَةٗۚ
4:100. Those who leave their homes and towns and engage in public life in the way of Allah to fulfill their lofty goals as per His guidance will have ample benefits and accommodation in this world.
وَمَن يَخۡرُجۡ مِنۢ بَيۡتِهِۦ مُهَاجِرًا إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ
Thus, whoever obeys the advice of Allah and the Reformist who guides the community and seeks to leave his home, will surely be rewarded by Allah.
ثُمَّ يُدۡرِكۡهُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ فَقَدۡ وَقَعَ أَجۡرُهُۥ عَلَى ٱللَّهِۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورٗا رَّحِيمٗا١٠٠
Even if he dies before he reaches his goal, he will be rewarded. The guidance of Allah is protective and gracious to all.
Remember. Hijrath does not mean leaving home and going to the forest to perform austerities. Hijrath is the process of going to favorable places with the support of the people and the best agenda to establish the rule of Allah with a lofty goal. (Ref: 17:1)
وَإِذَا ضَرَبۡتُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَلَيۡسَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ جُنَاحٌ أَن تَقۡصُرُواْ مِنَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ إِنۡ خِفۡتُمۡ أَن يَفۡتِنَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْۚ إِنَّ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ كَانُواْ لَكُمۡ عَدُوّٗا مُّبِينٗا١٠١
4:101. While on official travels, you can reduce the timings of the teaching of disciplinary actions that takes place according to His guidance. Because of the fear that you will be disturbed by your enemies, it is important to minimize such timings. Of course, these opponents may be your obvious enemies.
Allah’s guidance is essential for everyone in all situations. Always remember them. Make the necessary arrangements for that. This is why the guidance campaign system is followed at all times.
وَإِذَا كُنتَ فِيهِمۡ فَأَقَمۡتَ لَهُمُ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ فَلۡتَقُمۡ طَآئِفَةٞ مِّنۡهُم مَّعَكَ وَلۡيَأۡخُذُوٓاْ أَسۡلِحَتَهُمۡۖ فَإِذَا سَجَدُواْ فَلۡيَكُونُواْ مِن وَرَآئِكُمۡ وَلۡتَأۡتِ طَآئِفَةٌ أُخۡرَىٰ لَمۡ يُصَلُّواْ فَلۡيُصَلُّواْ مَعَكَ وَلۡيَأۡخُذُواْ حِذۡرَهُمۡ وَأَسۡلِحَتَهُمۡۗ
4:102. Even on the brink of war, you should not be careless in your safety. So, you will have to perform a few daily duties on the battlefield too. Do not make everyone engage in such activities as a single team at that time. Because looking at that moment, the opponent may conspire to attack you with a single blow. So, divide the soldiers into two segments and let one part do perform their duties first. Until then, let the other soldiers carry weapons to protect them. Let another section fulfill their duties after completing their daily duties.
It means that you are always advised to be vigilant. If you are careless in security matters, it will put you in danger. That is why it is important to protect your weapons and other livelihood items.
وَدَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَوۡ تَغۡفُلُونَ عَنۡ أَسۡلِحَتِكُمۡ وَأَمۡتِعَتِكُمۡ فَيَمِيلُونَ عَلَيۡكُم مَّيۡلَةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗۚ وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ إِن كَانَ بِكُمۡ أَذٗى مِّن مَّطَرٍ أَوۡ كُنتُم مَّرۡضَىٰٓ أَن تَضَعُوٓاْ أَسۡلِحَتَكُمۡۖ وَخُذُواْ حِذۡرَكُمۡۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَعَدَّ لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٗا مُّهِينٗا١٠٢
This is because the enemy can take a chance to attack you suddenly if you are a little negligent with regard to security. However, sudden changes in the weather, such as rain, can affect your physical condition. So, some of you may become sick and may not have the strength to carry weapons. Under such conditions, the weapons can be put down. However, you have to be alert always. Of course, the humiliating pain awaits the other side.
Dear Intellectuals! Consider one thing here. All safety measures are left to the responsibility of the Man. There is no direct intervention of Allah. Because the laws of Allah do not function unilaterally. They are all common to all. Consider the matter of changes in nature’s system as well. It is said that people can become sick for reasons like rain. That is since there are followers of Islam, there is no discrimination in the laws of nature. So, do think that the impact of rainwater is equally applicable to the followers and non-followers
And war is not something that happens for hours. It is something that happens for days and weeks. So, there will be daily natural needs of the armies like eating foods etc. They too must be fulfilled. These should be divided into several sections and performed.
In addition, the Commander-in-Chief will be required to teach the campaign board the definitions and tactics of warfare. It is imperative that everyone keeps them in mind and follow them strictly.
فَإِذَا قَضَيۡتُمُ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ فَٱذۡكُرُواْ ٱللَّهَ قِيَٰمٗا وَقُعُودٗا وَعَلَىٰ جُنُوبِكُمۡۚ فَإِذَا ٱطۡمَأۡنَنتُمۡ فَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَۚ إِنَّ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ كَانَتۡ عَلَى ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ كِتَٰبٗا مَّوۡقُوتٗا١٠٣
4:103. Remember. This arrangement for the preaching system is made to convey Allah's guidance to all people. So, the guidance learned in the campaign should be remembered at all times and acted upon accordingly round the clock. So always think about them and pay attention. (See also: 3:190,191). And when the war and riots are over and peace has returned, resume the regular campaigning method. Further, the timetable for this is to be specified and conducted at the respective time. Only then will everyone have the opportunity to participate.
وَلَا تَهِنُواْ فِي ٱبۡتِغَآءِ ٱلۡقَوۡمِۖ إِن تَكُونُواْ تَأۡلَمُونَ فَإِنَّهُمۡ يَأۡلَمُونَ كَمَا تَأۡلَمُونَۖ وَتَرۡجُونَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَرۡجُونَۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا١٠٤
4:104. Remember. Do not retreat in chasing down enemies on the battlefield. If you are to face many difficulties in the battle, the difficulties will be the same for the enemies. That is, in the case of hardship, both parties are equal. But the regime of Allah will get you the rewards you expect. But these advantages will not be available to enemies. Do not forget that the guidance of Allah is based on intellect and wisdom.
These are the rules you have to follow during wartime. Now pay due attention to guidance with regards to the social legal system.
إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَآ إِلَيۡكَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ لِتَحۡكُمَ بَيۡنَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِمَآ أَرَىٰكَ ٱللَّهُۚ وَلَا تَكُن لِّلۡخَآئِنِينَ خَصِيمٗا١٠٥
4:105. Legal procedures should always be based on Allah’s guidance in solving people's problems. Because He gives instructions on the right path of human life. By avoiding this, do not judge in favor of the unjust and the deceitful. Do not argue in support of them in any way.
وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرِ ٱللَّهَۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورٗا رَّحِيمٗا١٠٦
4:106. Always act within the framework of Allah’s guidance. Only then you can be safe from the damages caused by minor errors. There is a provision for this in the law of Allah.
وَلَا تُجَٰدِلۡ عَنِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخۡتَانُونَ أَنفُسَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَن كَانَ خَوَّانًا أَثِيمٗا١٠٧
4:107. We reiterate. Remember this. Doing harm to others can affect social harmony. Its evil effects will come upon him. Thus, he harms himself. So never argue in favor of such persons. The law of Allah will never support anyone who commits such a heinous act.
يَسۡتَخۡفُونَ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَا يَسۡتَخۡفُونَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ وَهُوَ مَعَهُمۡ إِذۡ يُبَيِّتُونَ مَا لَا يَرۡضَىٰ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡلِۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا يَعۡمَلُونَ مُحِيطًا١٠٨
4:108. Such people think that their conspiracy plans will go unnoticed by the people. But is it possible to hide them from Allah? Allah is sure with them, even when they make secret plans at night. Therefore, Allah's law of "the ultimate result of human action" will always monitor their every action. (See also - 40:19)
هَٰٓأَنتُمۡ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ جَٰدَلۡتُمۡ عَنۡهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا فَمَن يُجَٰدِلُ ٱللَّهَ عَنۡهُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ أَم مَّن يَكُونُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَكِيلٗا١٠٩
4:109. Remember. Allah's law, "the ultimate result of human activity," does not end with this life. It continues after his death. So, one can escape from worldly punishment by arguing in court in favor of such evildoers. But who can save them at the time when the “ultimate effects of human actions” come into force?
Because the consequences of his actions will come along with him. It is a survey of what he has done. (See - 17:13 & 14). So, it is unlikely that such evils will have lasting benefits in advocacy. This is a permanent law of instability. Always remember this. Whatever the evil deeds, they will cause harm to oneself and others. You can temporarily escape punishment if you want to, by man-made laws. But one can never escape from the standard law of Allah. There is only one way if you want to escape from the evil impacts. That is:
وَمَن يَعۡمَلۡ سُوٓءًا أَوۡ يَظۡلِمۡ نَفۡسَهُۥ ثُمَّ يَسۡتَغۡفِرِ ٱللَّهَ يَجِدِ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٗا رَّحِيمٗا١١٠
4:110. You must repent for the evil deeds you have done so far and avoid them immediately (see 4:17) and do many creative good deeds in return. Only then will the disadvantages decrease and the benefits increase (25:70). Doing so will bring relief and protection from the effects of the evil deeds you have committed. It is a great mercy of Allah to give such a chance to repent (see 16:61) for his protection without being punished immediately for the evil deeds he commits (see 16:61).
وَمَن يَكۡسِبۡ إِثۡمٗا فَإِنَّمَا يَكۡسِبُهُۥ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِۦۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمٗا١١١
4:111. If a person engages in evil deeds even after knowing this fact, let him know that its harm will be imposed upon him. Their effects will be detrimental to him and his dignity. The law and guidance of Allah are based on wisdom and practicality.
وَمَن يَكۡسِبۡ خَطِيَٓٔةً أَوۡ إِثۡمٗا ثُمَّ يَرۡمِ بِهِۦ بَرِيٓٔٗا فَقَدِ ٱحۡتَمَلَ بُهۡتَٰنٗا وَإِثۡمٗا مُّبِينٗا١١٢
4:112. What a great injustice it is to indulge in wrongdoing or sinful act and blame it on an innocent who knows no sin. Is this not a manifest sin? This would mean that he has committed twice as much sin.
وَلَوۡلَا فَضۡلُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيۡكَ وَرَحۡمَتُهُۥ لَهَمَّت طَّآئِفَةٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ أَن يُضِلُّوكَ وَمَا يُضِلُّونَ إِلَّآ أَنفُسَهُمۡۖ وَمَا يَضُرُّونَكَ مِن شَيۡءٖۚ
4:113. So, if you had not received the guidance of Allah, some of the clergymen in the community would have misled you. Now, if they try to mislead you, they will harm by themselves. This is the truth. And they cannot harm you in any way.
وَأَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ وَعَلَّمَكَ مَا لَمۡ تَكُن تَعۡلَمُۚ وَكَانَ فَضۡلُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيۡكَ عَظِيمٗا١١٣
And with the wisdom that Allah has given you, you can learn everything which you had not known before, and now you get the right guidance. Thus, the blessing of Allah is through the “guidance" which is great.
۞لَّا خَيۡرَ فِي كَثِيرٖ مِّن نَّجۡوَىٰهُمۡ إِلَّا مَنۡ أَمَرَ بِصَدَقَةٍ أَوۡ مَعۡرُوفٍ أَوۡ إِصۡلَٰحِۢ بَيۡنَ ٱلنَّاسِۚ
4:114. Notice the speech of the hypocrites. There will be nothing useful in their secret plans. Participating in public welfare programs, doing good deeds, or solving people's problems will never be there.
وَمَن يَفۡعَلۡ ذَٰلِكَ ٱبۡتِغَآءَ مَرۡضَاتِ ٱللَّهِ فَسَوۡفَ نُؤۡتِيهِ أَجۡرًا عَظِيمٗا١١٤
Instead, if they have any planning as per Allah’s guidance, it would have been constructive. So, inform them that whoever obeys the advice of Allah and seeks His approval, will have great rewards.
وَمَن يُشَاقِقِ ٱلرَّسُولَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ ٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَيَتَّبِعۡ غَيۡرَ سَبِيلِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ نُوَلِّهِۦ مَا تَوَلَّىٰ وَنُصۡلِهِۦ جَهَنَّمَۖ وَسَآءَتۡ مَصِيرًا١١٥
4:115. Even after knowing this great fact clearly, if anyone disregards the guidance of Allah and cut off relationship from the constitutional by-laws brought by the Reformist and His followers, he would be enlisted in anti-social elements. Those who do so will suffer severely. And the place they reach will be the most painful hell.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَغۡفِرُ أَن يُشۡرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغۡفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُۚ وَمَن يُشۡرِكۡ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدۡ ضَلَّ ضَلَٰلَۢا بَعِيدًا١١٦
4:116. This is because they are engaged in the worship of imaginary deities and follow their own ways other than the guidance of Allah. So, they cannot have a secure and comfortable life. Apart from this, committing small mistakes is different. There are means in the law of Allah to get relief from their vulnerabilities. But those who follow the guidance other than Allah will go far away from the right path. (See 4:48)
إِن يَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ إِنَٰثٗا وَإِن يَدۡعُونَ إِلَّا شَيۡطَٰنٗا مَّرِيدٗا١١٧
4:117. Thus, except for Allah, the imaginary deities whom they consider would safeguard them, are dormant and have no power. And they follow their own mental desires. Such people can’t come to the right path. (See: 45-23)
لَّعَنَهُ ٱللَّهُۘ وَقَالَ لَأَتَّخِذَنَّ مِنۡ عِبَادِكَ نَصِيبٗا مَّفۡرُوضٗا١١٨
4:118. Such people will lose the blessings of Allah and live in misery. And the clergy who lead them will tend to receive a share of their earnings for themselves.
وَلَأُضِلَّنَّهُمۡ وَلَأُمَنِّيَنَّهُمۡ وَلَأٓمُرَنَّهُمۡ فَلَيُبَتِّكُنَّ ءَاذَانَ ٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِ وَلَأٓمُرَنَّهُمۡ فَلَيُغَيِّرُنَّ خَلۡقَ ٱللَّهِۚ وَمَن يَتَّخِذِ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنَ وَلِيّٗا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَقَدۡ خَسِرَ خُسۡرَانٗا مُّبِينٗا١١٩
4:119. And if you notice the preaching of such clergy, it would mean as if, “Surely, I will lead the people astray. I will cultivate the superstitious beliefs in their minds that their imaginary gods will solve all the grievances of the people. For this, I will order the slaughter of limbs and ears of men of cattle-type. In this way, I will spoil the beautiful creations of Allah.” So, it is certain that a society that ignores the guidance of Allah and follows such superstitious beliefs will be at a great loss.
يَعِدُهُمۡ وَيُمَنِّيهِمۡۖ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ إِلَّا غُرُورًا١٢٠
4:120. The clergy, who follow their mental desires, promises to take people to heaven. They are telling fictional stories about that paradise life. All their promises will ultimately disappoint.
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ مَأۡوَىٰهُمۡ جَهَنَّمُ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ عَنۡهَا مَحِيصٗا١٢١
4:121. The communities that follow such people will ultimately have to suffer. They cannot find any way to recover from it.
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ سَنُدۡخِلُهُمۡ جَنَّٰتٖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدٗاۖ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٗاۚ وَمَنۡ أَصۡدَقُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ قِيلٗا١٢٢
4:122. On the contrary, those communities who wholeheartedly accept the guidance of Allah and do creative good deeds accordingly will get a life similar to Paradise in this world and the next. That is to say, the generous economic facilities as per their efforts will become a lifeline. And this heavenly life will continue until they live according to the guidance of Allah. This is the word of Allah. What other promise could be truer than his promise?
لَّيۡسَ بِأَمَانِيِّكُمۡ وَلَآ أَمَانِيِّ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِۗ مَن يَعۡمَلۡ سُوٓءٗا يُجۡزَ بِهِۦ وَلَا يَجِدۡ لَهُۥ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيّٗا وَلَا نَصِيرٗا١٢٣
4:123. Remember. You can never spearhead this heavenly life by rejecting the guidance of Allah and acting according to your will or as per the will of the followers of the previous scriptures. There is no room for man's personal preferences. Whoever does evil will get punishments accordingly. No one can save him from punishment even if he wants thousand times. The only way to get heavenly life is to follow the guidance of Allah.
وَمَن يَعۡمَلۡ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ مِن ذَكَرٍ أَوۡ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤۡمِنٞ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ يَدۡخُلُونَ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ وَلَا يُظۡلَمُونَ نَقِيرٗا١٢٤
4:124. There is no difference between males and females when it comes to achieving heavenly life. Those who obey Allah's guidance and do good deeds are all worthy of heavenly life. None of this would be treated unjustly.
وَمَنۡ أَحۡسَنُ دِينٗا مِّمَّنۡ أَسۡلَمَ وَجۡهَهُۥ لِلَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحۡسِنٞ وَٱتَّبَعَ مِلَّةَ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ حَنِيفٗاۗ وَٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ خَلِيلٗا١٢٥
4:125. Ask them, “Which of the guidance will be better than this?” Their ancestor “Reformist” Ibrahim Nabi was also completely obedient to Allah’s guidance and created a beautiful society. He acted in every aspect of life as per the Will of Allah. Why should you, who claim to follow him, have not done the same?
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءٖ مُّحِيطٗا١٢٦
4:126. If you do not do so, the consequences will be for you and not for Allah. This is because all other creatures in the galaxies and the earth are obedient to the command of Allah. Surely Allah has created for each creation its own set of rules. Only Man is an exception, as He has instructed His commandments through revelations.
So, if you act in defiance of the guidance of Allah, you will have to face its consequences.
وَيَسۡتَفۡتُونَكَ فِي ٱلنِّسَآءِۖ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يُفۡتِيكُمۡ فِيهِنَّ وَمَا يُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ فِي يَتَٰمَى ٱلنِّسَآءِ ٱلَّٰتِي
4:127. O, Reformist! They ask you about further rulings with regards to women. Tell them that Allah announces the dictates thus. “We have already announced in this Guidance about the legal rules to be followed regarding secluded women. If you are going to marry them, you have to give them the life-supporting materials called ‘Mahar’ and get married.
لَا تُؤۡتُونَهُنَّ مَا كُتِبَ لَهُنَّ وَتَرۡغَبُونَ أَن تَنكِحُوهُنَّ وَٱلۡمُسۡتَضۡعَفِينَ مِنَ ٱلۡوِلۡدَٰنِ وَأَن تَقُومُواْ لِلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِۚ وَمَا تَفۡعَلُواْ مِنۡ خَيۡرٖ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِهِۦ عَلِيمٗا١٢٧
It is wrong to marry without giving anything like that. Also, assist children and vulnerable people who are in need. Be very fair to them. So whatever good deeds are done, the rewards will surely come from Allah. Remember that Allah knows everything you do.
وَإِنِ ٱمۡرَأَةٌ خَافَتۡ مِنۢ بَعۡلِهَا نُشُوزًا أَوۡ إِعۡرَاضٗا فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيۡهِمَآ أَن يُصۡلِحَا بَيۡنَهُمَا صُلۡحٗاۚ وَٱلصُّلۡحُ خَيۡرٞۗ وَأُحۡضِرَتِ ٱلۡأَنفُسُ ٱلشُّحَّۚ وَإِن تُحۡسِنُواْ وَتَتَّقُواْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِيرٗا١٢٨
4:128. Also, if a woman complains that her husband is abusing her and wants to live away from him, find a solution so that they can live together smoothly. This is allowed in the law of Allah. Because such peace is better than separation. If problems arise due to the economy, it is better to solve them fairly. If both of them seek a solution and live with the fear of Allah, then it is good for both of them. Do not forget that Allah knows best what you do.
وَلَن تَسۡتَطِيعُوٓاْ أَن تَعۡدِلُواْ بَيۡنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ وَلَوۡ حَرَصۡتُمۡۖ فَلَا تَمِيلُواْ كُلَّ ٱلۡمَيۡلِ فَتَذَرُوهَا كَٱلۡمُعَلَّقَةِۚ وَإِن تُصۡلِحُواْ وَتَتَّقُواْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورٗا رَّحِيمٗا١٢٩
4:129. O followers of Allah’s guidance! No matter how much you want to be, it is never possible to behave wholeheartedly fair between your wives. But at least be economically reasonable to them. So do not lean on one wife completely and put the other in trouble. Fear Allah and be just. If you do, you will have a secure life. This is the grace of Allah.
That is if one marries more than one wife or has multiple wives before the revelation of this Quran, as mentioned in verse 4:3, then at least economically amicable treatment should be exercised between the wives.
وَإِن يَتَفَرَّقَا يُغۡنِ ٱللَّهُ كُلّٗا مِّن سَعَتِهِۦۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ وَٰسِعًا حَكِيمٗا١٣٠
4:130. If they have no other choice but to separate themselves, they may live apart. The regime of Allah will accept the responsibility of resolving the economic problems of women living apart like this. Surely, Allah's plans are based on vast wisdom.
In the absence of such a regime, this responsibility should be taken up in consultation with the Jamaat or relatives.
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ وَلَقَدۡ وَصَّيۡنَا ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ وَإِيَّاكُمۡ أَنِ ٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَۚ
4:131. Everything in the universe and on the earth works perfectly to fulfill Allah's plans. So, there is no problem. In the same way, guidelines are given for your life to blossom better and you will gain the proper knowledge to achieve it. Such bits of advice were given by Allah to the people who were given the Scripture before this. The command was to act in complete submission to the guidance.
وَإِن تَكۡفُرُواْ فَإِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَنِيًّا حَمِيدٗا١٣١
If you disobey the guidance of Allah, the consequences will be yours and not Allah's. For, everything in the universe and on earth belongs to Allah. So, he is not dependent on you. There is no need for anybody’s support. All of his plans are commendable.
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚوَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلًا١٣٢
4:132. Thus, their performance bears witness to the fact that all the creations in the universe and on earth act precisely and expeditiously to fulfill the plans of Allah.
There is a difference between other creations and man. As far as other creations are concerned, they can never function against the command of Allah. But the condition of man is not so. He is the one who has the freedom and power to do whatever he wants. It is the freedom and temptation given to man according to the plan of Allah.
إِن يَشَأۡ يُذۡهِبۡكُمۡ أَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَيَأۡتِ بَِٔاخَرِينَۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ قَدِيرٗا١٣٣
4:133. Had it been Allah's plan to extinct the human race and bring in another creation instead, He would have had no difficulty in doing so. Know that Allah is Almighty in all things. (See also: 14-9 & 10)
مَّن كَانَ يُرِيدُ ثَوَابَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا فَعِندَ ٱللَّهِ ثَوَابُ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ سَمِيعَۢا بَصِيرٗا١٣٤
4:134. So, if any society or individual lives with the sole aim of a comfortable life, they will get temporary benefits according to their efforts. But if they follow the guidance of Allah, they will get plenty of temporary benefits and future sustainable benefits. (See: 2-201 & 202) Surely the plan of Allah is to take care of all things.
۞يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ كُونُواْ قَوَّٰمِينَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ شُهَدَآءَ لِلَّهِ وَلَوۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِكُمۡ أَوِ ٱلۡوَٰلِدَيۡنِ وَٱلۡأَقۡرَبِينَۚ
4:135. O followers of Allah’s guidance! You always have to be neutral socialists. Never abandon justice. (See also: 5-8) For people to have a fair judgment, it is necessary to have honest witnesses. So, if you happen to be a witness, be truthful, even if it is against yourself or your parents or relatives, and bear witness to the truth as per the command of Allah.
إِن يَكُنۡ غَنِيًّا أَوۡ فَقِيرٗا فَٱللَّهُ أَوۡلَىٰ بِهِمَاۖ فَلَا تَتَّبِعُواْ ٱلۡهَوَىٰٓ أَن تَعۡدِلُواْۚ
There should be no discrimination between the rich and the poor. Allah suffices as a guardian over these two things. So do not deviate from the command of Allah in the matter of justice and allow your own desires to decide.
وَإِن تَلۡوُۥٓاْ أَوۡ تُعۡرِضُواْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِيرٗا١٣٥
Witnessing should not be against the truth. You should not keep away from telling the truth. So, keep in mind that Allah knows everything you do.
Keep in mind that only witnessing can build and maintain justice in a society. O Followers of Allah's guidance! Know one thing well. One cannot be considered a true Muslim just because he was born and raised in a Muslim home. A person's true condition can only be determined by the principles he follows. Therefore, one can become a true Muslim only if he fully accepts Allah’s guidance and acts accordingly.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ ءَامِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَٱلۡكِتَٰبِ ٱلَّذِي نَزَّلَ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ وَٱلۡكِتَٰبِ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنزَلَ مِن قَبۡلُۚ
4:136. O followers of Allah’s guidance! Know the true state of Allah's guidance, accept it wholeheartedly and act accordingly. Also, accept the by-laws and Scriptural instructions given by the Reformist for implementing social reforms and act accordingly. You have to accept that the previous Scriptures too had the same basis.
وَمَن يَكۡفُرۡ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ فَقَدۡ ضَلَّ ضَلَٰلَۢا بَعِيدًا١٣٦
Whoever refuses to accept the guidance of Allah, the natural energy of the universe to carry out His programs, the constitutional laws of Allah, By-laws enacted to implement His guidance and, the "ultimate consequences of human action" will go far away from the right path. This is certain.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ثُمَّ كَفَرُواْ ثُمَّ ءَامَنُواْ ثُمَّ كَفَرُواْ ثُمَّ ٱزۡدَادُواْ كُفۡرٗا لَّمۡ يَكُنِ ٱللَّهُ لِيَغۡفِرَ لَهُمۡ وَلَا لِيَهۡدِيَهُمۡ سَبِيلَۢا١٣٧
4:137. To believe means to think, to know, to accept, and to act accordingly. (See 2:208) If he accepts certain things, refuses to accept a portion of guidance, and refuses to abide by the laws, he will lose the opportunity of being guided. Thus, he will not get the way for a secure life.
بَشِّرِ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ بِأَنَّ لَهُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا١٣٨
4:138. On the contrary, all those who pretend to have accepted the guidance and have different ideas in mind are hypocrites. Let them know that painful torments are surely waiting for them.
ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَّخِذُونَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ أَوۡلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَۚ أَيَبۡتَغُونَ عِندَهُمُ ٱلۡعِزَّةَ فَإِنَّ ٱلۡعِزَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِيعٗا١٣٩
4:139. Such hypocrites not only ignore the followers and the guidance of Allah but also take those who engage in illegal activities as their best friends. Do they think that doing so will give them prominence and dignity? Surely the elevation and dignity are obtained by fully accepting the guidance of Allah and acting accordingly.
وَقَدۡ نَزَّلَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ أَنۡ إِذَا سَمِعۡتُمۡ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ يُكۡفَرُ بِهَا وَيُسۡتَهۡزَأُ بِهَا فَلَا تَقۡعُدُواْ مَعَهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ يَخُوضُواْ فِي حَدِيثٍ غَيۡرِهِۦٓ إِنَّكُمۡ إِذٗا مِّثۡلُهُمۡۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ جَامِعُ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ فِي جَهَنَّمَ جَمِيعًا١٤٠
4:140. And do not sit in a crowd that refuses to accept the guidance of Allah and mocks it. Stay away from them until they get involved in something other than this. This is the command of Allah placed upon you through this Book. If you continue in contact with such people, you too will become like them. Know that hell is the final destination of all such hypocrites and those who refuse to accept Allah’s guidance.
ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَرَبَّصُونَ بِكُمۡ فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمۡ فَتۡحٞ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ قَالُوٓاْ أَلَمۡ نَكُن مَّعَكُمۡ وَإِن كَانَ لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ نَصِيبٞ قَالُوٓاْ أَلَمۡ نَسۡتَحۡوِذۡ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَنَمۡنَعۡكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَۚ فَٱللَّهُ يَحۡكُمُ بَيۡنَكُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِۗ وَلَن يَجۡعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ عَلَى ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ سَبِيلًا١٤١
4:141. These hypocrites are always watching you and you know this fact. If you are successful by the grace of Allah, they say that they were also with you. Instead, when they go to the opponents, they claim to have helped and saved them from the Muslim warriors. All these can be talked about now. When the regime of Allah comes into function everything will come to an end. Allah will never help the opponents to defeat the followers.
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ يُخَٰدِعُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَهُوَ خَٰدِعُهُمۡ وَإِذَا قَامُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ قَامُواْ كُسَالَىٰ يُرَآءُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ وَلَا يَذۡكُرُونَ ٱللَّهَ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا١٤٢
4:142. So, it is true that these hypocrites plan to prevent the regime of Allah from coming into force. But by the decree of Allah, their insidious deeds will surround them and identify them. (See 2:9) They also reluctantly participate in community development programs. That too to show off to others! Only a very few of them pay attention to the guidance of Allah.
مُّذَبۡذَبِينَ بَيۡنَ ذَٰلِكَ لَآ إِلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ وَلَآ إِلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِۚ وَمَن يُضۡلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ سَبِيلٗا١٤٣
4:143. Such hypocrites will neither be on the side of the followers of Allah’s guidance nor on the side of those who reject the guidance of Allah. They would be staggering between them according to the circumstances. Thus, those who deviate from the guidance of Allah and go astray will be plunged into misguidance as per the Pre-Directed Laws of Allah. There is no other way to rectify them.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَتَّخِذُواْ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ أَوۡلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَۚ أَتُرِيدُونَ أَن تَجۡعَلُواْ لِلَّهِ عَلَيۡكُمۡ سُلۡطَٰنٗا مُّبِينًا١٤٤
4:144. O followers of Allah’s guidance! Identify such social enemies and sever ties with them. Otherwise, you too will undergo punishments according to the law of Allah. The friendship you have with them will become a witness against you.
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ فِي ٱلدَّرۡكِ ٱلۡأَسۡفَلِ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ وَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُمۡ نَصِيرًا١٤٥
4:145. Surely these hypocrites will be plunged into the miseries of hell. No one will come forward to help them. That is, they will receive severe punishment in this world as well. So, do not keep in touch with them.
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ تَابُواْ وَأَصۡلَحُواْ وَٱعۡتَصَمُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَأَخۡلَصُواْ دِينَهُمۡ لِلَّهِ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ مَعَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَۖ وَسَوۡفَ يُؤۡتِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ أَجۡرًا عَظِيمٗا١٤٦
4:146. Rather, those who repent for their sinful activities and commit themselves to doing good deeds in accordance with the guidance of Allah, fully immerse themselves in the right path and purify themselves, will be included in the list of followers of guidance. And such people will continue to benefit from the decree of Allah.
مَّا يَفۡعَلُ ٱللَّهُ بِعَذَابِكُمۡ إِن شَكَرۡتُمۡ وَءَامَنتُمۡۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ شَاكِرًا عَلِيمٗا١٤٧
4:147. If you live in obedience to Allah and according to His guidance, what good it will be to Allah to torment you? So, Allah knows best who is grateful and faithful.
Part: 6
۞لَّا يُحِبُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡجَهۡرَ بِٱلسُّوٓءِ مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡلِ إِلَّا مَن ظُلِمَۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ سَمِيعًا عَلِيمًا١٤٨
4:148. Do not mock those who have come to the right part, for the evil deeds which they have done before. This is something that Allah does not like. It is a different thing that victims express their grievances. Remember that Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
إِن تُبۡدُواْ خَيۡرًا أَوۡ تُخۡفُوهُ أَوۡ تَعۡفُواْ عَن سُوٓءٖ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَفُوّٗا قَدِيرًا١٤٩
4:149. So, Allah knows well whatever you do good deeds openly or indirectly. Similarly, it is a good deed if you try to correct a person without exaggerating the evil character which he or she had before. Verily Allah’s guidance is for the safety of the people at large.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكۡفُرُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن يُفَرِّقُواْ بَيۡنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَيَقُولُونَ نُؤۡمِنُ بِبَعۡضٖ وَنَكۡفُرُ بِبَعۡضٖ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن يَتَّخِذُواْ بَيۡنَ ذَٰلِكَ سَبِيلًا١٥٠
4:150. But some of the people ignore the standard laws prescribed by Allah and the constitutional by-laws which the Reformist has brought into force. They also try to create division between these two. Thus, they accept some of the Laws and reject others, trying to find a new way for themselves. This is the greatest sin.
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ حَقّٗاۚ وَأَعۡتَدۡنَا لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٗا مُّهِينٗا١٥١
4:151. Surely, such people who reject the guidance of Allah are social enemies. Such people will ultimately have to suffer severely.
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَلَمۡ يُفَرِّقُواْ بَيۡنَ أَحَدٖ مِّنۡهُمۡ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ سَوۡفَ يُؤۡتِيهِمۡ أُجُورَهُمۡۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورٗا رَّحِيمٗا١٥٢
4:152. On the contrary, those who accept the guidance of Allah, and accept the constitutional by-law which is introduced by Reformist, act accordingly, and perform without any distinction between these two, will be rewarded according to the Pre-Directed Laws of Allah. Allah's guidance is designed for the protection of people from all walks of life. This is the greatest grace of Allah.
يَسَۡٔلُكَ أَهۡلُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ أَن تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ كِتَٰبٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِۚ فَقَدۡ سَأَلُواْ مُوسَىٰٓ أَكۡبَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ فَقَالُوٓاْ أَرِنَا ٱللَّهَ جَهۡرَةٗ فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّٰعِقَةُ بِظُلۡمِهِمۡۚ ثُمَّ ٱتَّخَذُواْ ٱلۡعِجۡلَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَتۡهُمُ ٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتُ فَعَفَوۡنَا عَن ذَٰلِكَۚ وَءَاتَيۡنَا مُوسَىٰ سُلۡطَٰنٗا مُّبِينٗا١٥٣
4:153. Listen carefully to the speech of the people of previous revelations. They ask you to bring down a scripture directly from the sky. This is nothing new. These are the lame excuses they give for not accepting Allah’s guidance. They demanded the same thing from the Reformist Moosa Nabi who came to them. They said, “We will not accept Allah until we see Him.” They were struck by thunder for their cruel deeds. (See 7:155) Moreover, even after receiving clear instructions through the Reformist Moosa Nabi, they, at one stage, selected the calf for worship. Clear guidance was given by Allah through the Reformist Moosa Nabi to guide them so that they could come to the right path.
Even nowadays they are doing unnecessary logic as well. O followers of Allah’s guidance! Do not become like them.
وَرَفَعۡنَا فَوۡقَهُمُ ٱلطُّورَ بِمِيثَٰقِهِمۡ وَقُلۡنَا لَهُمُ ٱدۡخُلُواْ ٱلۡبَابَ سُجَّدٗا وَقُلۡنَا لَهُمۡ لَا تَعۡدُواْ فِي ٱلسَّبۡتِ وَأَخَذۡنَا مِنۡهُم مِّيثَٰقًا غَلِيظٗا١٥٤
4:154. We also took an oath from them when we were living at the plains adjoining a high mountain called ‘Thoor’. Accordingly, at every stage of life, they were told to bow their heads only to Allah’s guidance. We also advised them not to become like the extinct fisherfolk who faced destruction due to wrongdoings. Thus, we obtained a firm promise from them.
فَبِمَا نَقۡضِهِم مِّيثَٰقَهُمۡ وَكُفۡرِهِم بَِٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَتۡلِهِمُ ٱلۡأَنۢبِيَآءَ بِغَيۡرِ حَقّٖ وَقَوۡلِهِمۡ قُلُوبُنَا غُلۡفُۢۚ بَلۡ طَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡهَا بِكُفۡرِهِمۡ فَلَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا١٥٥
4:155. But later on, they started deviating from Allah’s guidance, breaking their promise with Him. They also tried to kill Reformists who came from time to time and asked them to obey Allah’s guidance. They used to say, “There is a seal in our hearts and so, none of your sermons are valid for us.” Thus, they lost all the blessings of Allah. Know all by this that by the Pre-Directed Laws of Allah, the veil falls on the hearts of such people. So very few of them will accept Allah’s guidance. This is also the condition of the people now.
وَبِكُفۡرِهِمۡ وَقَوۡلِهِمۡ عَلَىٰ مَرۡيَمَ بُهۡتَٰنًا عَظِيمٗا١٥٦
4:156. Apart from refusing to accept the guidance of Allah, they were also slandering Maryam, the mother of Reformist Easa Nabi. This proved to be detrimental to their dignity. Will they be guided anymore?
وَقَوۡلِهِمۡ إِنَّا قَتَلۡنَا ٱلۡمَسِيحَ عِيسَى ٱبۡنَ مَرۡيَمَ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلَٰكِن شُبِّهَ لَهُمۡۚ وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱخۡتَلَفُواْ فِيهِ لَفِي شَكّٖ مِّنۡهُۚ مَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍ إِلَّا ٱتِّبَاعَ ٱلظَّنِّۚ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ يَقِينَۢا١٥٧
4:157. And one of the myths they tell is that they killed Easa Nabi, the son of Maryam and the Messenger of Allah. But the truth is they neither killed him nor crucified him as they say. These are all their guess works. Many of them have differing views and are still skeptical. They have no clear knowledge about this. They are just talking only about that which they imagine. So, the real fact is that Easa Nabi was never killed.
بَل رَّفَعَهُ ٱللَّهُ إِلَيۡهِۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمٗا١٥٨
4:158. He was not all crucified as they claim, and so, he did not face the cruel death. Instead, he was honored and his position was exalted as per the Pre-Directed Laws of Allah. Of course, all of Allah's plans are based on great wisdom.
وَإِن مِّنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ إِلَّا لَيُؤۡمِنَنَّ بِهِۦ قَبۡلَ مَوۡتِهِۦۖ وَيَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ يَكُونُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ شَهِيدٗا١٥٩
4:159. Now, look at followers of those scriptures. They firmly believe that Reformist Easa Nabi shed his blood on the cross to cleanse and sanctify human sins. It is said that every Christian should accept this at least before death. But on the Day of Judgement, Easa Nabi will testify against their claim. (See. 5:116 & 117)
فَبِظُلۡمٖ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُواْ حَرَّمۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ طَيِّبَٰتٍ أُحِلَّتۡ لَهُمۡ وَبِصَدِّهِمۡ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ كَثِيرٗا١٦٠
4:160. The Jews are asking you to bring down the Scripture directly (4:153). Because of such unnecessary arguments and misdeeds, they were subject to restrictions and prohibitions on many matters. And they were wasting their wealth without spending it in the way of Allah. Such restricting orders were issued for them in order to return to the right directions.
وَأَخۡذِهِمُ ٱلرِّبَوٰاْ وَقَدۡ نُهُواْ عَنۡهُ وَأَكۡلِهِمۡ أَمۡوَٰلَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلۡبَٰطِلِۚ وَأَعۡتَدۡنَا لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ مِنۡهُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِيمٗا١٦١
4:161. For example, there was an order restricting the collection of interest on loans. But they ignored it, collected interest, and developed the habit of enjoying the hard work of the poor and the innocent people. They unjustly misappropriated the property of the poor. As a consequence of their unjust activities, they were severely punished in due course of time. Know that such severe torments are ready for those who reject and act against the guidance of Allah.
لَّٰكِنِ ٱلرَّٰسِخُونَ فِي ٱلۡعِلۡمِ مِنۡهُمۡ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيۡكَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبۡلِكَۚ وَٱلۡمُقِيمِينَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَۚ وَٱلۡمُؤۡتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ سَنُؤۡتِيهِمۡ أَجۡرًا عَظِيمًا١٦٢
4:162. But some learned scholars are well versed with the Book of wisdom. Some scholars accept the scriptural teachings that came prior to you. They also follow the rules and regulations of Allah properly and help for the betterment of society. They accept the guidance of Allah and the Law of “the ultimate result of human action”. They too will receive immense rewards from Allah.
۞إِنَّآ أَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَيۡكَ كَمَآ أَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ نُوحٖ وَٱلنَّبِيِّۧنَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦۚ وَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰٓ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسۡمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسۡحَٰقَ وَيَعۡقُوبَ وَٱلۡأَسۡبَاطِ وَعِيسَىٰ وَأَيُّوبَ وَيُونُسَ وَهَٰرُونَ وَسُلَيۡمَٰنَۚ وَءَاتَيۡنَا دَاوُۥدَ زَبُورٗا١٦٣
4:163. Do not think that the teachings that came before you are different from what is revealed through Al Qur’an. From the beginning of Revelations to Nooh Nabi and other Reformists, especially Ibrahim Nabi, Ismail Nabi, Ishaq Nabi, Yaqoob Nabi, and his descendants, and Easa Nabi, Ayyub Nabi, Younus Nabi, Haroon Nabi, Sulaiman Nabi, and Dawood Nabi had the same basis. Know all that the Scripture given to Dawood Nabi too strikes with the same basis.
وَرُسُلٗا قَدۡ قَصَصۡنَٰهُمۡ عَلَيۡكَ مِن قَبۡلُ وَرُسُلٗا لَّمۡ نَقۡصُصۡهُمۡ عَلَيۡكَۚ وَكَلَّمَ ٱللَّهُ مُوسَىٰ تَكۡلِيمٗا١٦٤
4:164. We have thus explained to you the historical events of some of the Reformists who came. We did not mention many reformists who came before you. And We spoke to Reformist Moosa Nabi. (See 27: 8-9) Historical events and ways of giving guidance may be different, but the message of the gospel given to each Reformist has been the same.
رُّسُلٗا مُّبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَ لِئَلَّا يَكُونَ لِلنَّاسِ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ حُجَّةُۢ بَعۡدَ ٱلرُّسُلِۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمٗا١٦٥
4:165. So, the purpose of the coming of all the reformists was the same. That is to say, their job was to preach the details or prescribe good deeds, that is those who do good deeds accordingly would have a happy life, and to warn them of the ill effects of evil deeds. This arrangement of informing these rules to people was made so that when people suffer in the future, they should not say that Allah has not sent anyone to guide them. So, Allah's plan of action is wiser and wiser than anything else.
لَّٰكِنِ ٱللَّهُ يَشۡهَدُ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ إِلَيۡكَۖ أَنزَلَهُۥ بِعِلۡمِهِۦۖ وَٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يَشۡهَدُونَۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًا١٦٦
4:166. The excellent functioning of the world bears witness to the fact that all the intellectual guidance given by Allah is based on clear wisdom. This is also evidenced by the activities of the universal forces of nature created by Allah. What better evidence and witness could there be than this?
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ قَدۡ ضَلُّواْ ضَلَٰلَۢا بَعِيدًا١٦٧
4:167. So, there is no doubt that those who act against the guidance of Allah and seek to hinder the process of implementing the plans of Allah will go astray.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَظَلَمُواْ لَمۡ يَكُنِ ٱللَّهُ لِيَغۡفِرَ لَهُمۡ وَلَا لِيَهۡدِيَهُمۡ طَرِيقًا١٦٨
4:168. Those who reject the guidance of Allah and do injustice will never have a secure life from Allah. They will not even get the chance to come on the right path.
إِلَّا طَرِيقَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدٗاۚ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرٗا١٦٩
4:169. Such people will only get eternal hell-like torments. There will be no way to recover from it. Thus, Allah has no difficulty in punishing them.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدۡ جَآءَكُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ بِٱلۡحَقِّ مِن رَّبِّكُمۡ فََٔامِنُواْ خَيۡرٗا لَّكُمۡۚ وَإِن تَكۡفُرُواْ فَإِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمٗا١٧٠
4:170. O Mankind! The guidance that shows you the right path in your life has been revealed by Allah, Who created you. If you accept and act on it, your life will be full of pleasure. If you reject it or change it, the consequences are yours. This is because everything in the galaxies and the earth acts according to the command of Allah. If you act against these permanent laws, you must face the consequences of your actions. Allah is fully Cognizant, Most Wise.
يَٰٓأَهۡلَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ لَا تَغۡلُواْ فِي دِينِكُمۡ وَلَا تَقُولُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلۡحَقَّۚ إِنَّمَا ٱلۡمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ٱبۡنُ مَرۡيَمَ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ وَكَلِمَتُهُۥٓ أَلۡقَىٰهَآ إِلَىٰ مَرۡيَمَ وَرُوحٞ مِّنۡهُۖ
4:171. O people of the Book! Do not go beyond the limits that have been set up to follow. Do not say anything about Allah’s guidance other than the truth. Certainly Easa Nabi, son of Maryam, was a messenger of Allah. And he was a testament to regime of Allah. The message about him was sent to Maryam in advance.
فََٔامِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦۖ وَلَا تَقُولُواْ ثَلَٰثَةٌۚ ٱنتَهُواْ خَيۡرٗا لَّكُمۡۚ
The theme of his teachings was to accept the guidance of Allah and guide the people accordingly. Do not divide guidance into three ideologies. If you avoid talking like this, it will be good for you.
إِنَّمَا ٱللَّهُ إِلَٰهٞ وَٰحِدٞۖ سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥٓ أَن يَكُونَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٞۘ لَّهُۥ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلٗا١٧١
Surely Allah, the One, is only One. There is no question of Him having a son. He is beyond such imagination. To Him belongs everything in the galaxies and the earth. He is not dependent on anyone. The universes all depend on Him to function.
لَّن يَسۡتَنكِفَ ٱلۡمَسِيحُ أَن يَكُونَ عَبۡدٗا لِّلَّهِ وَلَا ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَۚ وَمَن يَسۡتَنكِفۡ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَيَسۡتَكۡبِرۡ فَسَيَحۡشُرُهُمۡ إِلَيۡهِ جَمِيعٗا١٧٢
4:172. As far as Christians are concerned, it is disrespectful to say that Easa Nabi and the Natural forces, construed to be as angels by them, acted in obedience to Allah. But he and the natural forces had no such thoughts. Those who disrespect and act arrogantly in disobedience to the command of Allah will fall into the clutches of the law of "the ultimate result of human action". Let them know that they all are accountable for the total actions they do in their life.
فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَيُوَفِّيهِمۡ أُجُورَهُمۡ وَيَزِيدُهُم مِّن فَضۡلِهِۦۖ وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسۡتَنكَفُواْ وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ فَيُعَذِّبُهُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِيمٗا وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيّٗا وَلَا نَصِيرٗا١٧٣
4:173. So, communities that accept the guidance of Allah and do creative good deeds will surely be rewarded. They will get more benefits than they expected. On the contrary, any society which behaves arrogantly, thinking that it is disrespectful to live in obedience to Allah, will be entangled in tragic torments. No one will stand by and help you to get out of misery. The only way to do this is to accept the guidance of Allah and act accordingly. And after death, this opportunity will not be given.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدۡ جَآءَكُم بُرۡهَٰنٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَأَنزَلۡنَآ إِلَيۡكُمۡ نُورٗا مُّبِينٗا١٧٤
4:174. O Mankind! These are the permanent and clear-cut laws that have been revealed by Allah, who created you. These are the advanced information that gives detailed guidance to your luminous life.
فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱعۡتَصَمُواْ بِهِۦ فَسَيُدۡ خِلُهُمۡ فِي رَحۡمَةٖ مِّنۡهُ وَفَضۡلٖ وَيَهۡدِيهِمۡ إِلَيۡهِ صِرَٰطٗا مُّسۡتَقِيمٗا١٧٥
4:175. So, any society that considers these as the ideal of its life and works to ensure that all are united will have the power to receive the blessings of Allah. And the path to the right goal of human life.
Also, find out what that goal is:
1. The people of the world are all one race. Brotherhood and affection must grow within them. (See: 2: 213)
2. A safe life without any fear or anxiety should be made available to people from all walks of life. (See 2:38)
3. There should be no such thing as human domination in this world (3:79)
4. To be a society with generous economic facilities (see 2: 118,119)
5. This world of justice and equality should shine with the light of Allah’s guidance. (See 39:69)
6. The efficiency of people from all walks of life must grow rapidly and become capable of crossing the advanced stages of life (see 84:19).
7. All human problems must be solved according to Allah's guidance (see 5:44).
All these are the straight path that leads to the goal of human life set by Allah.
يَسۡتَفۡتُونَكَ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يُفۡتِيكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡكَلَٰلَةِۚ إِنِ ٱمۡرُؤٌاْ هَلَكَ لَيۡسَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٞ وَلَهُۥٓ أُخۡتٞ فَلَهَا نِصۡفُ مَا تَرَكَۚ وَهُوَ يَرِثُهَآ إِن لَّمۡ يَكُن لَّهَا وَلَدٞۚ
4:176. Now some further explanations are sought regarding the partition of “Kalala” wealth. This is the answer from Allah.
Their question is to whom the property will go if there are no heirs like the mother, the father, the grandfather, and the child. If the rich man who has no heirs dies and if he has only one sister, half the share of the property will go to her. If the deceased was a woman and she had no children then her brother would be the full heir to her property. If the sisters are more than one, two-thirds of the property will be taken and divided equally. If there are brothers and sisters, they will be divided according to the ratio of 2:1 already mentioned. This is the command of Allah. These explanations are given to you so that you do not go astray. Surely Allah is Knowing of all things.
وَهُوَ يَرِثُهَآ إِن لَّمۡ يَكُن لَّهَا وَلَدٞۚ فَإِن كَانَتَا ٱثۡنَتَيۡنِ فَلَهُمَا ٱلثُّلُثَانِ مِمَّا تَرَكَۚ وَإِن كَانُوٓاْ إِخۡوَةٗ رِّجَالٗا وَنِسَآءٗ فَلِلذَّكَرِ مِثۡلُ حَظِّ ٱلۡأُنثَيَيۡنِۗ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمۡ أَن تَضِلُّواْۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءٍ عَلِيمُۢ١٧٦
If the rich man who has no heirs dies and if he has only one sister, half the share from the property will go to her. If the deceased was a woman and she had no children then her brother would be the full heir to her property. If the sisters are more than one, two-thirds of the property will be taken and divided equally. If there are brothers and sisters, they will be divided according to the ratio of 2: 1 already mentioned. This is the command of Allah. These explanations are given to you so that you do not go astray. Surely Allah is Knowing of all things.
